It's amazing isn't it? I know someone that used to do cave diving as a hobby and I always wondered what you would get out of it. There was an interview with a cave diver in the aftermath of those Italians dying in the Maldives (?) recently and everything he said about it, in terms of what it's like, what you need to be able to do and how careful you need to be made it sound completely shit

So how did it go?

How typical of Andy Burnham to remain silent about what he would or would not do to popular TV celebrity Carol Vorderman's back door, whereas his main rival in the Makerfield by election, Reform candidate Robert 'he's only saying what we're all thinking' Kenyon has been very clear on this hot doorstep issue

My wife completely gets this but I used to work with a bloke that would always come back from going for a walk on a hot day with a proper sweat on and EVERY TIME open the window we'd kept shut all morning to let a lovely blast of hot air into the office and say 'oh, that's better'

I think it's a variation on the 'don't tell me what to do' stance which a lot of folk like to take in all sorts of situations including many where they are not being told what to do. 'Don't warn me of risks with a view to helping keep my family and I safe and avoiding foreseeable harm!' doesn't have the same ring does it?

It's horrible, and I think you'll always get an element of 'it'll never happen to me' on anything like this. I was annoyed the other day as there was something on FB about the police warning about these very dangers and the comments were littered with stuff like 'why aren't you catching criminals', 'let kids be kids' and 'I used to jump off a 50ft cliff into 6 inches of water and it never did me any harm' and all that total bollocks, and I imagine if you live in a household where that's the sort of thing that gets said then the risk goes up quite a bit

I saw someone out running at about 11.30 this morning and it didn't look like a lot of fun. I ran in similar heat years ago and the lesson learned from that was that you can re-hydrate all you like but if you don't put those electrolytes back you're going to feel like death, would NOT recommend

My brother has been helping his son and daughter in law move out of their flat and into his gaff. Got a van and did it all themselves, of all the days to pick

It's very hard to tell who's actually a real person on there these days but wherever this has been posted on Facebook there are hundreds and sometimes thousands of replies that are just folk saying 'no'. No trace of any begrudging acknowledgement of progress on the issue, nothing like that. It does little to undermine my completely unscientific theory that people don't really want it sorting out because if it was you couldn't moan about it anymore

Reform's candidate for the Makerfield by-election's X account has been mysteriously suspended (might be back up now, I'm not on there anymore). The chatter was initially that he'd done/said something pretty outrageous to have fallen foul of their rules, but some talk now suggesting the account being suspended is actually in Reform's interests, given what might have been on there. The reviews for The Mandalorian and Grogu are in and boy does it sound underwhelming. Sounds like they're very much sticking to the tried and tested format of main character going somewhere to do a thing, doing that thing (and occasionally having to do something else that wasn't part of the plan, then doing the thing that was) before going somewhere else to do something slightly different, keep repeating over 3 seasons

Someone on Bluesky has just likened this to "Plankton trying to get the Krabby Patty secret formula" and that proper tickled me and I'm sure would cheer up the Saints fans if they read it

I think I would. I doubt it would convince anyone that hates it to do an about turn, but it could definitely make you appreciate it more if you're already at least a bit of a fan. I'd suggest watching the film again before reading the book as it's a pretty deep dive and I think it would've been a harder read if I'd not been able to remember what they were talking about

Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road by Kyle Buchanan. Probably of limited interest to those who are not fans of the film, or at the very least have a passing interest in how films are made. It's mainly quotes from those involved, and it does shed some light on what makes it, in my view at least, a truly great film. I've never really been able to put my finger on why I like it so much (and I'm well aware that many folk are largely indifferent to it) but the effort that went into it and George Miller''s unconventional approach to film making both come across really well in this book and make me appreciate it even more. It also reminds us that George Miller''s films aside from the Mad Max franchise include Happy Feet and Babe: Pig In The City

I see the Raise The Flag bloke wanted for in connection with running someone over in Stirchley, Brum, has been arrested at the Unite The Kingdom' march, surely the last place anyone would have thought to look for him, what are the chances?

Gutted that I went to London last weekend instead of tomorrow, thereby missing my opportunity to take part in the 'Unite The Kingdom' rally which sounds like a very noble aim to me

I didn't get it today. I don't play every single day but I think that's only the second time I've failed
