  1. Where is the Biden that spoke so well during in his State of the Union address?
  2. So sickening listening to Trump’s narcissism
  3. Has Trump actually answered any of the questions he’s been asked? He just ignores them!
  4. I’m n I’m not well up enough on US politics to know but surely there must be someone who can successfully call out Trump’s crap?
  5. I like Joe generally, I think he is well meaning and doing as best he can in a difficult political environment, but perhaps it’s time to replace him with someone younger, even at the last moment.
  6. Yes, a fire hose of bullshit but put across confidently. Biden is stumbling badly.
  7. IMHO it isn’t a matter of tiki taka vs direct. It’s about having the flexibility to adapt depending on the opposition, the players available, and probably a range of other factors. Only the very rich clubs can afford to be stubborn, because they can afford to pay for the very best talent to fulfill the manager’s vision of how football should be played. Wholly inappropriate for a club like Leicester, particularly in current circumstances.
  8. I thank him for our promotion and wish him well in his career. With the resources he’ll have available at Chelsea he may even be able to make his style of football work in the Premier League, as long as he develops more flexibility and doesn’t have too much interference from the owners. I can’t imagine his style would have worked for us in the PL - champagne football with brown ale players, so think this is the best outcome. Just hope the powers that be can find a suitably pragmatic replacement that can keep us up in the season ahead.
  9. The club had been economical with the truth
  10. Well it’s something of a free hit for an ambitious manager. Do well and be a hero, or blame it the things you’ve listed.
  11. Personally I think this might be for the best IF the board appoint a pragmatic manager whose sole aim is to stay up next season. Worry about fancy football once we’re back on our feet. Enzo did a fine job last season - winning the Championship is no easy feat even though it was made to look so at times. However, I just can’t see any way his methods would have worked in the PL with the players that we are likely to have at our disposal, and his stubbornness would likely have seen us relegated rather than play to their strengths. My only worry is whether we have sufficient expertise to be able to make a suitable appointment.
  12. The only thing that matters next season is to stay up, so in my opinion, dump the fancy-pants football (we won’t have the money to do it properly), at least for now and appoint a pragmatic manager whose sole focus is 40 points. No idea who fits the bill.
  13. Quite sickening that with all these scandals you can be sure that the arrogant British establishment (both parties involved in most of them) will cry a few crocodile tears, profess sadness and regret, promise that it will never happen again, maybe dole out a few pounds to those affected. Then they’ll get back to covering each others arses and nothing will change. The obvious remedies are things like a whistleblower’s charter, and prison sentences for those who inflict these cruel injustices.
  14. Yes, here mostly to visit the wife’s folks, so not me at Gingin.
  15. Doubt I’ll be missed TBF
  16. Hmmm…. Making the same flight on Monday with Singapore Airlines. Think I’ll be wearing my seat belt wherever possible.
  17. I don’t think Iran can be classed in any way as a democracy. It comes just below Russia in this list and is listed as a “moderate autocracy”. Ranked 147/176. https://www.democracymatrix.com/ranking
  18. Good riddance https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/article/2024/may/20/people-are-in-no-mood-to-mourn-mixed-reactions-in-tehran-after-death-of-president-ebrahim-raisi
  19. Danny Ward levels of keeping
  20. This Natalie Elphick affair seems a bad bit of business for labour. They’ve taken a Tory problem and made it their own. Starmer’s judgement is also in question. Rubbish decision to let her in.
  21. Look where my Bermondsey wife has taken me
  22. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/08/world-scientists-climate-failure-survey-global-temperature I’m sure it’ll all work out okay
  23. Think it goes without saying that any renewals should be on realistic wages, not necessarily the same they were on before, but also bear in mind that the cost of the player is the sum of wages plus amortised transfer fee, which in these cases would be zero (might include a signing on fee). This means we can pay them more than the wages of a replacement player who would also be subject to a transfer fee.
  24. Bit of an anti-climax, but job already done I suppose. Would still have liked a win, or at least an entertaining match. Blackburn obviously didn’t get the memo that we won the league and are invincible.
