Looking like the pirates are fighting back

If it was 2028 or so he'd have slammed a general election down now. Far too early yet unless he's gonna go full on rejoiner and run on that as his main manifesto pledge.
-
Probably Iran. They said before that base was fair game since US forces are using it.

City of Leicester & Leicestershire - The Good and Historical Stuff
Innovindil replied to davieG's topic in General Chat
Under the proposals, Beaumont Leys Library would be relocated to the Leicester Leys Leisure Centre. New flumes would also be installed. There would be upgrades to the leisure pool and fun pool area, including new features for babies, toddlers and young children. Reckon this could tempt me into getting the toddlers into swimming a bit tbh. When I'm on earlies I finish at 1.30 so plenty of time to take them for a pre-dinner splash about. Can't imagine the weather is gonna keep up for going to the park over the winter months -
The golden age of the RTS has come and gone pretty much. Hard to commit funds to PC exclusive games these days. Starcraft IP has too big a fanbase to gather dust forever though, I think a FPS could be fun.

I can understand this bit, but you could at least let people choose how to be contacted. My issue is to do with my daughter's development, completely non-urgent and wouldn't matter if the email was missed. It's just so frustrating. So now I've picked up the phone at work, even though I'm not supposed to and now I have to ring the guy back when I finish and we all know how that will go. You're 8,049th in the queue please wait while we deal with higher calls than usual! Bah. Hate it. Video calls would sort out the oldies though I'm sure. My mum would love that.
-
Doctors still using phone calls as the main means of communication. It's the middle of the work day, it's noisy as balls here and you're using a phone that sounds like it's from the 1950s. It's not an urgent matter, so email me ffs. Or send a mail through your horseshit NHS website.

Genuinely dunno, I don't make the rules, but if I did I reckon someone that killed 3 young kids wouldn't be allowed to roam free ever again. I'm not sure "mental illness" would change my mind on it tbh. Same for that Nottingham killer.
-
Genuinely don't understand this case at all. If she's openly declared she has killed the children, then why are people so invested in it? Surely if she had a working noodle she should be in prison for life, but if she was coocoobanananas then she should be in a padded cell for life? Why are people standing around outside the court like muppets?

Are you perhaps thinking of the trident subs? I didn't include those in those numbers, by subs I meant the astute class not the vanguard class.
-
Well not really. Royal Navy gets talked down a lot but still packs a punch for the size of the country it's protecting. Combat wise it has 5 active subs, 2 aircraft carriers, 3 active destroyers (with the other 3 being refitted) and a handful of frigates. Doesn't sound so great typed out, but one fully stocked aircraft carrier and 1 destroyer which is over twice the size of the argie "destroyers" pretty much slaps down anything the argies can put in the sea or air.
-
Spoiler, it's dog shit. Essentially 0 aircraft carriers, 0 active subs, 3 "destroyers" built in the 80's. A fraction of the royal navy slams it with little effort.

So as a middle ground, why not publicly fund the news section of the BBC and let the rest of it fund itself? Have to imagine people would be happier forking our £300mill ish a year instead of almost £4billion.

From what I've seen it's more like the work experience you'd get at school than free labour. Could be decent since a supermarket is a pretty good environment for a first job. The devil will undoubtedly be in the detail. If they are actually going to teach young folk a few skills then great, if they will just be stacking shelves like you suggest then awful.

You think rockstar have spent a billion quid developing this game to shill a shit crypto currency?
-
Floating wind farms have been offered about £270 per megawatt hour (MWh) – about three to four times the normal price of wholesale electricity. I'd say this is why, probably.

Probably would have saved us a few lives in Afghanistan tbh.

Wish the apprentice's we've just taken on felt the same tbh. A bunch of em decided to send company wide emails along the lines of: Hi! I'm blablabla. I'm so happy to be joining the team, if you'd like to get to know me better, here's a link to my linkedin and x profiles! I guess they are told by someone in lala land that these emails are a useful tool to "stand out from the pack". Screw that nonsense. You're apprentices. Your job is to learn how to do your job, preferably without losing fingers or blowing something up. If I somehow know your name by the end of your apprenticeship, you've ****ed something up.

Russia have been saying the exact same thing since we sent the first military hardware help to Ukraine. The reality is if they wanted to attack everyone who's helping Ukraine, they'd be at war with half the world by the time they are through. Considering they've been at war with Ukraine for over 4 years now, and acheived essentially dick all, I say meh.

The more important general news is that Strokes is back, almost as mysteriously as he disappeared.

Makes me laugh some of the quotes floating about. "This reminds us of what it is to be human." Really? Sure the actual event is mildly interesting, but I dare say 99% of the interest is based around the scarcity of the event, if it happened say... Every month? You'd get a couple of crazy cults out of it but the vast majority wouldn't find it interesting anymore.
-
Well it can, with tens of trillions of pounds, hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of lives and multiple generations of time. Even then, people that don't want to change, won't.
