What I meant when I said that we like where we sit and the people around us, wasn‘t that we go for the social aspect of it. When we first got season tickets we ended up near some really nasty people, who told my son off for getting excited and shouting. Apparently it disturbed his daughter who was busy watching My Little Pony on her phone. Every week they found something new to complain about. So we moved, and now we sit near nice people, and I wouldn’t want to risk losing my seat and being surrounded by dickheads again. I really dislike the concept seen on here of the “hierarchy of fans”. Leicester doesn’t have glory fans. Apart from the handful of Thai tourists and corporate box-owners, the fans all just want to watch the team play well and get some points. I don’t understand why some people want the fans to turn on each other.

Yes, I've renewed. My kids still want to go, and we like where we sit, and the people around us, who've also said they're renewing.

Has anyone’s tickets arrived for this yet?
-
Does anyone know from experience what time the coaches are likely to set off for this game? We’re hoping to get tickets and trying to work out the best travel options.
-
I think a reasonable number of people will renew when we’re relegated, because they’ll remember how hard it was to get a season ticket before. I started bringing my kids when they both got interested in football in the 13/14 season, and it took us about 3 years to get a season ticket. So we missed the PL winning match, and had to battle to get tickets for the CL matches. It was such a relief when we finally got season tickets, and had guaranteed seats. Realistically we’re never going to achieve those dizzy heights again, but there’s a remote possibility we may find ourselves in the PL again, and then season tickets will be hard to get. I think there may be a lot of people in my situation, wary of relinquishing the season tickets we had to wait so long for. But if we’re in league 1 for a second season, then I very much doubt I’d renew. The kids will most likely have moved away by then, and it won’t be worth it financially, for the number of games we can all get to.

A points deduction was considered, but not given, because the new owners blamed it on the old owners basically. Essentially the dodgy stuff happened on abramovich’s watch. The new owners spotted it and owned up. That honesty has got them a light punishment. So it’s OK to commit a crime if you don’t get caught at the time, and fess up to it years later.
-
It makes me so angry seeing Chelsea getting a £10 million fine today, for a historic financial breach. No question of a points deduction. The PL just save that for the smaller clubs. No need to punish the big boys. £10 million is small change to Chelsea.

Quoting myself - I’ve been reading about league 1 rules. Essentially owners can put in as much of their own money as they like, unlike with PSR, where the resources of a club are meant to be generated by the club. But only 60% of that “equity injection” can be spent on players, and presumably the rest can be spent on back room staff, facilities etc. I believe it may be 75% for newly relegated teams. I’d have thought that we’d be a more attractive prospect for a rich potential owner than many other league 1 teams. Big stadium, fancy training ground, large fan base, recent top flight history. It’s all relative. As a club that won the PL and FA cup in the last 10 years, we’re now an absolute shambles. But compared to long-standing league 1 teams, I think we’d represent a good opportunity for a rich new owner.
-
My understanding is that teams in league 1 can spend 60% of their money on players, but that the money doesn’t have to be generated by club turnover. It can come from the owner, unlike with PSR. That’s how Wrexham got to the championship. Rich owners pumped their own money in, which is permitted in league 1. So Top (or whoever he sells to) can put his own cash in if he wants to. I think that’s correct anyway.
-
I disagree. If there’s one thing that is clear as day, it’s that most of the current team don’t give a shit about relegation, because they know they won’t be around to play in league 1. Bit like Tielemans when we got relegated from the PL in 2023. Footballers want money and status. In league 1 with a bankrupt team, they’ll have neither. When that last ball is kicked against Blackburn on the final day, we won’t see them for dust.
-
Well they only have to have a chat with the Sheffield Wednesday players, to find out what it’s like when you don’t know from one week to the next if you’re going to be paid. Footballers have massive egos but they’re not completely stupid. Imagine the choices. 1) Move to another championship club, earn half what Leicester paid you, but play at a decent level, and maybe do well enough to get promoted, or a move to a PL club (they’re all arrogant enough to think they’re worthy of that). 2) Stay at Leicester to get your big wages. Play against the likes of Stevenage and Barnsley. Become invisible to bigger teams. Play for a club that may go bankrupt and not pay you at all.
-
They don’t have to pay him the same as we did though. I’m sure he’d still go. I mean, if we said to him “Ok Skipp, you can go to Norwich and they’ll pay you half what we pay, or you can stay here, playing in League 1, and your wages will contribute to the team going bankrupt, and then your wages will be zero”. Surely all the players will take a pay cut at a championship team in preference to bleeding a league 1 team dry, and getting no wages at all.
-
They’ll get offers, and they’ll push for moves. We’ll be desperate to sell, and other teams will get bargains. Can you think of a single highly paid player who will be prepared to play in league 1, especially if there’s a risk of administration? I think even Vestergaard will want to go, and he’s someone who doesn’t like moving house!! I don’t think wages will be an issue.
-
It’s essentially a loan though isn’t it. And surely it would be in Macquarie’s best interests to give us longer to pay them back, in the hope we got promoted again, rather than watch us go into administration and potentially not get the full amount back?
-
But presumably only if Macquarie ask for the loan to be repaid ?
-
And do we keep our championship parachute payments for another 2 years?
-
But presumably almost all the half decent players (who cost the most money) will leave, so the wage bill will go down.
-
How do you know this? I’m not disputing it, I’m just genuinely curious about the sources of information.
-
No reason, it was just that your post was the one I read most recently.

Can you explain how relegation would bankrupt us?
