I love how he says "Following the appeal, we will also be writing to the EFL to volunteer our participation in a working group on the practical application and enforcement of Regulation 127 across the Championship". Like convicted burglars offering to advise on home security!

Quite a few pundits are saying the expulsion is an excessive punishment, but I think they're missing the point. The reason spying is banned is because it gives the spies an unfair advantage. Fair enough if it was in the first few weeks of the season, and a team was low/mid table, then maybe a fine would suffice. But in the context of a play-off, and a chance of promotion, the stakes are much higher. Given that they've admitted spying before, it casts doubt on their entire season, particularly given the incredible turnaround they had after sacking Will Still. If they weren't expelled, the EFL would effectively be saying we know you cheated, but now that you're over the finish line, we're going to let you have the gold medal anyway! With any crime, the punishment has to act as a deterrent. If there's no meaningful deterrent, people will just commit crimes!

SCMP rules - Now Championship and League One
Qwerty replied to LCFCCHRIS's topic in Leicester City Forum
I agree, but the fact remains that without the punishment of a points deduction, we wouldn’t have been relegated, and would be in a far healthier financial position. The way the punishments are devised seems counterintuitive. Fines and points deductions lead struggling clubs to struggle even more, and be at even more risk of bankruptcy. I think transfer bans would be better. Punishing a club that has overspent by relegating them doesn’t help anyone, which is what PSR is claiming to do. -

Exactly. It’s dressed up a being a way of preventing teams from going bankrupt by overspending, but it’s ended up being a charter for the rich teams. It ensures that the rich teams stay at the top, and the smaller teams can only compete if they get lucky. -

These new rules appear to drop our allowance to 65% I think. It’s basically going to make it harder for rich owners to swan in, bulk up the first team and get promoted, without investing in the academy, “fixtures and fittings” etc. I think it’s worse for us than it would have been, because compared to other League 1 teams, we have a rich owner. -
Additional season tickets for existing holders

It’s a good idea. I started taking my boys when they were 6 and 9. They’re 17 and 20 now, and apart from holidays, Christmas, special occasions etc , it’s pretty much the only time all 3 of us do something together. -
Could we go into Administration next season?

Why would we get a points deduction? There’s no PSR in league 1. As long as you adhere to the percentages (which is 75% in the first year of relegation), then owners can put in as much as they like. My understanding is that an owner could put in 100 billion of their own money, and as long as they spend 25% of it on non-player expenses, then it’s allowed. -

Thank you for clarifying. Of course, we all know we’re in some trouble. But your statement is so specific. Whereas your car analogy is not. You talk as if you are an authority on the financial situation at LCFC and KP. It’s quite frustrating when people speak as if they’d ITK, when in fact they’re just guessing like the rest of us. Some people really do have inside knowledge, and it would be nice to be able to differentiate them from the speculators. -

You sound very sure. Do you have inside knowledge and professional accounting qualifications? Or are you theorising, like the rest of us? -

I believe it’s 75% of revenue in the first season after relegation. -
Could we go into Administration next season?

It depends entirely on whether or not Top is prepared to spend money. In league 1 there’s no PSR, so if Top wants to spend big, he can. -

My guess is that it’s a little bit like gambling. You start off putting money in and you keep winning, so it’s great, and you put more money in and keep winning. Then you start losing, so you keep on putting money in to try and win it back. Eventually you have to give up and walk away. At the moment, it’s worth Top’s while to keep putting money into the club, because there’s a chance we may get promoted next season, and start to turn things around. But if we’re not promoted, then I think he’ll walk away and accept administration. -
The fans turning on each other on FoxesTalk has been really depressing. I don’t know why it has to happen. Can’t people accept that everyone deals with anger and disappointment in different ways? I'm furious with Top, Rudkin etc for what they’ve done. I’ve been immensely frustrated at the stupidity of their decisions, and their inertia when it comes to fixing problems. And as well as feeling angry, I’m really sad that the club I’ve supported for decades (and introduced my kids to) has entered such a dark phase. But I don’t boo players. It’s just not in my nature. Shouting and screaming is not the way I express anger. No doubt many of you on here would see my apparent calm demeanour at a match and put me in the “KPFC happy clapper” category, just because I wasn’t letting a stream of swear words fly out of my mouth. But it doesn’t mean I’m not just as angry as anyone. Ironically Top and his cronies would be very happy to hear that the fans are tearing each other apart. It takes the heat off them, if the fans are busy fighting each other. I think fans should accept that we’re all massively pissed off about this situation, but that we express it in different ways.

why do you want us to go down again?
-
I still don't think they'll stay. High wages could put us into administration and then they wouldn't get paid at all.
-
Time will tell, but I honestly think the vast majority of our players think they're WAY above having to play the likes of Leyton Orient and Bromley, and will go to European clubs if they can't get championship moves.
-
Do you know for sure that he doesn't have a relegation clause?
-
There's a strong chance the players have relegation clauses, so the wages may drop anyway. I think there's a chance Vestergaard may get a move to another championship club. I think it's players like Luke Thomas and Hamza who won't go anywhere. And I doubt their wages are that high.

The Board must be in cloud cuckoo land
Qwerty replied to Glovermagic555's topic in Leicester City Forum
To be fair, this will have been arranged ages ago when we weren't near relegation. -
It baffles me that people on here think that any players are going to choose to stay at Leicester and play in league 1, because they’re on lucrative contracts! It’s glaringly obvious that most of the team think they’re too good for LCFC, and are desperate to leave. All the financial stuff has created a toxic atmosphere throughout the club, and they’ll literally be counting the days till the end of the season when they can start sorting moves elsewhere. Ultimately footballers have short careers, and they need to think about what is best for them in the long term. Languishing unseen in league 1 can be career suicide, and their wages wouldn’t be worth it, Trust me, any of our current starting 11 who are still here next year, will have tried unsuccessfully to move.
-
Some different away grounds to go to.
-
Yes but we’ve not been in league 1 in that time. This time they’ll all be running for the door.
-
I doubt they’re on high wages. And both of them are about league 1 standard.
-
I keep reading on here people presuming that players on high wages will refuse to move. Name one player on a high wage who will happily stay with us in league 1. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the last few games, it’s that none of them want to be here. They’ll all be pestering their agents every day to sort out a move.

Just watched their goal back and it was a handball wasn’t it. And we should have had a penalty earlier.
