Premier League Thread 2023/2024
SouthStandUpperTier replied to Nalis's topic in General Football and Sport
Defence and goalkeeper are weaknesses, but there really is no excuse for Southgate for us not to be battering everyone 7-3 at the Euros. -
He wins plenty of regular tour events. He just can't seem to get over the line in the majors anymore. However, I don't think moving to LIV will help him in this regard.

It's Always Sunny in Wrexham

The Championship is where it will get difficult for them, but League One should be fairly plain sailing for them if they want to spend the cash. -

They can inject as much cash as they want. Wouldn't be surprised if at some point they turned that debt into equity. https://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php Clubs in the League 1 and League 2 operate within a Spending Constraint framework termed Salary Cost Management Protocol (SMCP). SCMP limits spending on player wages to a percentage of club Turnover. In League 1 clubs can spend a maximum of 60% of their turnover on wages - in League 2, the limit is 55%. There are no restrictions (in themselves) on the amount a club can lose or spend on transfer fees. Under the SCMP rules, the definition of 'Turnover' is particularly important as Turnover is used to determine the maximum wage-spend. Within a traditional accounting perspective, there are usually only three elements of turnover: Match-day Income Commercial Income (such as sponsorship) TV revenue (and any 'merit payments' based on league position) However the Football League use a is broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions. Manchester City and Leicester for example seem set for punishment for their excessive losses (from UEFA and the Championship respectively) despite the fact that the owners have injected hard cash into the club to finance the spending. -
Which he blatantly copied from Wes Matthews, the NBA player, who'd been doing it for several years before Barnes. Cue another stream of annoyance from @foxile5

Excitement fizzled out in the end. Not Scheffler's fault. He's a machine and doesn't make the silly mistakes the others do.

West Brom matched them last year. Why didn't a similar sized club match them this year? Oh yes, because he was totally ineffective for them.

And we think our strikers miss a lot of big chances. Salah is on another level to any of them. -
Man United 2-0 up on Chelsea. Looking like a big opportunity missed by us.

Did a great job taking over the reins from NP during The Great Escape Just kidding (or am I?) -
They gave it everything they had. Just didn't quite have enough to see it through.

Would be kinda funny if the Spurs women win a trophy before their men do though.
-
There we go. Would've got hammered by Chelsea in the final anyway.
-
Fresh legs have given us a bit of impetus back.

So close!

Can't happen now. Palmer on for Takarada.

Do we have a sub left to get Leitzig on for pens? Should we do it if so? Kop is playing well.
