Any particular reason for that?

The official EFL squad list was announced a couple of days ago. We have registered only 15 players, the smallest number of any league one club. Many of our young players come in the under 21 list which is quite extensive. However, we don't seem to have registered any senior goalkeepers in the list. Is this our new tactic to save our season? Anybody notice this?

Successive managers have failed to motive these Leicester players. Cooper, Van Nistleroy, King, Cifuenties, Rowett. All have had the same players week after week. Until Russel Martin can play a side contained NOT ONE player from last season's debacle then it is too early to judge. We need 11 players out there on the pitch chosen by RM (whatever your views on him) that have no influence from last season. At present our defence, apart from right back, is last season through and through. 10 days to the closure of the transfer window. There's a lot to do!!!!!!

Every transfer deal is usually listed as a "race" in the press, whereas in fact, it's a "dawdle".

Be interesting who actually plays today.

It's hardly giving the fans any hope though at the moment!! Maybe everything will take off any day now but I'm doubtful.

Every day I think with all the work we need to do, something is happening. Every day nothing happens. Can only imagine our starting X1 as noted by previous poster.

Yes, we keep hearing that this summer is going to be a complete rebuild/reset. Lots of players are going to be leaving we keep reading in rehashed Mercury articles. Well, We've been hearing about this great reset since Rodgers last year here and it still hasn't happened. I'm assuming players will be back for preseason training in a short while and it's going to be the same group. Nothing will have happened and it will be a case of yet another manager trying to get the same squad motivated. Apart from the striker position I can name a full side exactly the same that is likely to be starting our forthcoming fixtures!!!!!

Players out we need but total silence. That would also bring in money. Surely somebody must be negotiating their way out!!!!??

At the moment, to be able to sign any new players, we need urgent departures....and I mean urgent!!!! We can't afford to wait until later in the summer as there is so much to do. We all need some early news of the departure of a contracted player - whether sold or paid off. Positive activity will help to get the fans on side.

I am just hoping the action needed starts now! Not when everyone is back from holiday or the end of June when contracts expire. We need it to start happening now! So board, directors, staff let's get negotiating deals to clear as many players out of the door as soon as possible. It's something we haven't done on previous seasons and it needs to change. Show us that the club mean business in the rebuilding process. The sooner the decks are cleared then we can start to look at building a squad for next season. There must be nothing to distract from the club moving forward.

Back line or back bone, it's all basically the same needed. Some managers start by getting a top goalie, centre back, centre midfield and striker. The spine of a team and then build it up around this line.

In defence of Gary Rowett, don't forget Martin O'Neill couldn't get a win for toffee when he first came - 12 games wasn't it? Not comparing managers but I feel sorry for him and for Andy King before him that the players just aren't up to the task in hand and whoever gets to play is on a hiding to nothing within this squad. Remembering Brian Little when he first came in and had to deal with a fragile squad. He shored up the defence with some solid centre backs (not great players) but they gave the team a back line to allow the forwards to play as they needed.

2 of Andy King's games we were down to 10 men before we knew it. Really felt for him.

Definitely would benefit from George Hirst, Tom Cannon and Maswanise around the place. For the position we are in they would all be good options.

We have been draining the swamp for 2 or 3 years now. Trouble is it keeps filling up again!!!!!!

May as well increase our points deduction to 20 points as the Prem would love. That will get it all over with and we can start again from rock bottom.

Think League One is where we need to be now. It's probably the only way we can get a restart and be rid of most of these players.

Let's stop predicting, give Gary a chance. Take it one game at a time and try and string a run if good results together.

We keep saying this but still lots of players are still here a couple of years on. Some with leave at end of contracts again thank goodness.

What about exits though. There are players out in the cold who need to play. Surely they will be trying to get those moves otherwise what's the point of being a footballer. (World Cup!!!!). Marti has not been very successful so far but before he is properly assessed we need to get the non trier's out of the club. Then we need to get the points deduction situation finalised. When we have done this and maybe brought in another couple of loan/free signings it will be a chance to see if results improve. Whatever happens then is the next phase of club development. - hopefully!!!!!

Full credit to Skipp for his performances in defence in the last 2 games. I wonder if he has a future as a right back if we have other midfield options. I remember Andy Feeley from way back doing an admirable job after a similar position swap.

Yes, we need to stabilise now. We are not going back up this season and neither would it be a good idea if we did. We need to clear the decks of more high earners in January and next summer and then rebuild. What would be really helpful now would be to get this points deduction out of the way. Let's take it asap, slip to 19th or wherever and then hopefully recover to a mid table position come the end of the season. It might all be painful but we must clear our baggage asap and start again.
