Sheffield Wednesday (H) 10th August

Players are refusing to play, leading to the cancellation of a pre-season fixture against Burnley and a risk that the opening league fixture against Leicester City is called off -

Ticket office really are a shambles -
Just scrap the league cup, no one cares (apart from the odd non big-6 club that win it), and cue moral outrage about the game being gone from 'fans' on Twitter.

Lol can you imagine if they tried to program it to do that quite basic task. Would absolutely cock it up somehow -
Good point, that's probably me. I don't like being told what to do so will find a workaround for every demand to 'beat' the system even if it makes my life harder, and claim it as a win. This has helped me though, been needing a new phone for years and put it off, finally upgraded and left an old Android with my STs on it in Leicester. So although I've got an actual new phone in response to this demand, I will claim it as a win too.

Hull away on the midweek. Might have to be Friday

Fantastic review, thanks! Couple added to the list for when I am back in Leicester

Mate it sounds like you are 'doing better' - incredible to go mostly without the last few weeks after what you describe before. Well done and keep it going, you are a smart and funny person. I often read your non-league, F1 and Notts county posts. You need to post more about Canada though !

Ah the curry master! I want to try what a shot, I have heard it's an Indian restaurant not the typical oily Bangladeshi/Bengali mild spiced 'curry' house. You been? Any good?

Hahah strangely enough that is a game I am planning to go to! Cov away on the preceding Saturday (if I get a ticket), Wrexham away in midweek (surely I'll get a ticket at my points level with it being a midweek in Jan) and then might as well stay in the UK and go to that home game on the 24th

Damnnn, forgot how fun that whole stand could be. I have only gone to the valley once, the midweek game in 2012 when kermogant scored the pen against us -
Well done foxes trust for this

That doesn't sound right. I imagine that's an advisory clause to stop the waves of people who cannot figure out how to download the passes, and then blame the club for 'NOT TELLING ME!!!' what they needed to do. I defo don't have the latest version of android on the phone my two passes are on.
-
That's interesting and another anecdote to add to the pile. In so many areas the club try and act like a proper corporate enterprise, but so often you hear they just fold over to anyone who can kinda be arsed to challenge them, or maybe they just haven't got the staff to act like a corporate.

Were you watching the dodgers v Red Sox baseball where they were explaining the origins of the song at sports. Mildly interesting but I agree the song is annoying. Had to sing it on karaoke at every bar we went to on my stag many years ago, and it was annoying then

Not done it myself but anecdotally heard of >5 who have. They’ve gone to the KP and literally presented their non-smart phones, and been given a plastic card.
-
Downloaded my two last week, much prefer the digital tickets as I can’t go every game, passing around a bit of plastic for entry to an event is insane in these days. There are loads of exemptions if you still want a plastic ticket. Kids, old people, registered disability or go to the club with an old phone and tell them this is your only phone. They’ve made it really simple.

6 disgusting ‘Amstel’ at old Trafford yday. £6.95 a pint, terrible service. Only got 5 more after the first one because I got the first round and I didn’t wanna get short changed. Can’t be too long until people cut out the drinking at events. It’s overpriced and horrid. Made my day worse if anything

Cretins like trump and farage are the tip of the iceberg. They’ve used low level tools like Twitter and Facebook to manipulate their sheeple. When those tools get far more sophisticated and permeate every part of daily life, we’ll get dystopia and look back on these relatively moderate leaders wistfully

I've emailed Jim a few times over the years when waiting for a block to open, and they have opened it quite quickly in response. I'm not saying this is the correct way to run a business, but worth shooting an email off if you are waiting for a new block -
What would you suggest? My go to is 'Hope you are well' - I don't hope or care if you are well - but in our culture you have to do the niceties or people will get offended. I preferred it working in the US, didn't even have to say hi on an email, launch straight into what you want.

Yes, they are excellent, I have lived in 3 countries are HMRC are by far the best authority. They tend to fob off idiots who have no idea how to organise their affairs which is probably why most of Twitter hates them. Dunno about the football regulator, automatic response would be 'toothless tiger' but let's see.
