Who cares. Nothing changes until the owner changes.

Meaningless drivel

We are now 12/1 for the title.

I'm on a group chat with a Liverpool, Man City and Carlisle fan. They don't event take the piss anymore.

Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
ourla replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Not sure Martin was "sold" anything. As a club we were clearly on the floor. As a manager he was clearly on the floor. It was a punt at best on both fronts. -
"Be careful what you wish for" Believe it or not we are still 2nd or 3rd favourites to win the league with the bookies (Sheff Wed and Huddersfield up there with us). Anyone lumping on at 11/2!?
-
MK resident. We don't have a ring road - we have a grid! BTW - anyone who likes their ale - you should go to the Red Lion or Chequers in Fenny Stratford - both a little over a mile away from the ground, not far but far enough.

Red Bull took on Newcastle Falcons rugby team. They are more of a diamond in the rough, big project thing than we are. Not saying the rumours are true but I think we are in the ballpark of what they like to take on.
-
Apart from the odd wum/idiot/prankster nobody would call for Martin to be sacked at this point. I think (based on his career thus far allied with our incompetent owner/CFO) he will be a failure but it's inevitable he will get at least 10/12 games. The hope is that by then we have a new owner lined up and we can look forward to a total reset.
-
We will have to agree to differ. I don't believe we can look forward until this ownership comes to an end. I am not going to pretend to be positive about our current position. Just to be clear I don't spend much time thinking about Leicester City atm. I don't need to fill my life with negativity. Plenty of other stuff to be getting on with. I started this thread because I was genuinely surprised we are such hot favourites to win the League. Purely based on Martin being IMO a punt (which it had to be really under our current ownership/situation), our owners ability/interest to turn things around, the squad churn (again understandable). I really didn't want us to get relegated. The further we fall the longer and more difficult the road back, regardless of any change of ownership/management. And I would be delighted if we won the League. I am positive about the potential for the club in the long term.
-
Our owner believes we are a small club. Many of us disagree but while he is here... I'm not miserable and I am just putting out a genuine opinion. We (the club) are in a miserable place. That's not because of me.

Two posters say "League one’s standard is crap is now" and "an incredibly poor league" While another says "Listen to journos regularly covering league one and they will tell you it’s a historically strong league this year" So who knows on that one.
-
He left Southampton with one league win in sixteen matches and bottom of the league. It I recall at the time every pundit in the country was saying he needed to change his tactics. He was at Rangers for 123 days, the shortest-serving manager in Rangers' history. He was roundly mocked on this forum when it was rumoured we might bring him in.
-
We fully deserve to be here.
-
Correct answer - sort of. But that is what I was getting at. Are people totally unaware of the death spiral we've been in. Have they looked at our squad and compared it to others. I'll be honest I haven't. It could be that League One really is that shit. Because I am expecting us to be pretty shit. Though I will be delighted to be proved wrong.
-
We have a bunch of kids and a few new signings - that frankly if they are coming to us are no good. Our manager is a bit of a fruit cake - who was an abject failure at his last two clubs. How are we favourites to win the League? I suspect punters haven't really been following what's going on close up. It does mean the alternatives are probably good value - for those that like a bet!

I don't hate Martin. To be honest I don't have much view on him at all. It just doesn't matter at the moment who we appoint whilst under the ownership and management of Top and Rudkin. I'll keep watching and vaguely supporting the team/club in the meantime but until those at the top changes, nothing will change. -
I have a saying that fits almost all situations: "Things are never as good or as bad as they seem". This is the exception.

There are a number of drivers to this. When I were a lad in the 70's my dad wouldn't even by a ticket beforehand. We'd just pay on the gate/day. We'd even go on holiday the July fortnight "on spec". Fast forward to now turning up and paying on the door is virtually unheard of. People have the means to pay for stuff in advance and are used to getting booked up. Population growth. Football in England and the rise of the Prem has meant a general upward trajectory of the support base. Leicester in particular I think the ownership of the KP in the early days got people thinking we were on a good footing and could go places. Not winning the Prem of course, I mean relative to where we were or had been in the years just before. It's hard to say what will happen ownership/team/performance wise and it's hard to say if things don't get better if there will be a fall off or how quick it will be.

I'm not and never have been a STH. But it's funny how fans are called "plastic" if they only support the club in the good times. Everybody admires teams that go down the league(s) and still return a large following.
-
As above people have all sorts of reasons for buying. There is never likely to be a complete collapse. I am glad there are still people willing to buy. It doesn't change what is going on though. And that things won't change until Top and Rudkin are done.
-
I think you have to divorce our current shit show from the broader state of the sport/world. Truth be told I think the English Premier League is fantastic from an armchair perspective. I also have good friends who are Liverpool and Man City STH who seem very happy with what they get. Must admit aside from City's win I haven't watched a Cup Final live for a long time but then it's the same with the Grand National. And the early stages of the CL and WC are a bore - later stages still a good watch and interesting though. I attended football in the 70's, 80's and I think some people forget how grim it could be. And if you we are talking of corruption - have we forgotten that infamous night against Atletico in 97.

Fans have nothing to be ashamed of. What's happened/happening is not on us.
-
IF (a big if) we stay up under Rowett, do we keep him on?
ourla replied to LCFCCHRIS's topic in Leicester City Forum
I don't see why not. Ultimately will make no odds whilst Top/Rudkin are running the show. He's a good Championship manager which is where we will be.
