CM, and the defence as a whole is very concerning. Soumare who I thought would thrive looks ****ing abysmal, the sheer lack of press from the midfield two was very concerning, and Soumare is so susceptible to the transition, in fact, we are as a whole, Thomas looked poor, Justin looked poor, Okoli just stood and watched the ball roll past him when they scored, and can’t pass for shit, Vesty is far too slow and will get caught out multiple times this season. The attacking far too slow, it’s ponderous and lacks aggression, everything we saw against Fiorentina was not there today. I just think this team is there for the taking against any team with pace and half decent finishers. We need a new CM, two new fullbacks, and if Faes goes a new CB to partner who should be Nelson. More concerns than positives today, no matter how you flower up Sheffield Wednesday, they’re a poor team in a state, and we struggled to beat them. Very worried about is defensively, we’re going to have to outscore our opposition until we’ve sorted that defensive box out. That CM and CB partnership is not working.

I agree with Winks. He changed the game when he came on. I thought Ayew looked good, but I’d rather he work on getting the ball out of his feet quicker and get into the box is all, I think he’s actually a decent finisher.

But is it? Would you not rather he get the ball, release it quicker and then move into space and create more movement around him? It would make our attack far more dynamic. Too many times today it slowed down because the ball wasn’t being released quick enough. Not saying he had a bad game, just that there’s things I wish he did a bit quicker.

There’s holding on to it, to bring other into play, and then holding on for it for too long. He needs to release it quicker than he is.

Thought Ayew was poor to be honest. He holds on to the ball for far too long. Numerous times he was too busy trying to battle when he could get the ball out to the wide men much quicker. That it likely to cause us issues going forward.

Not convinced at all. Poor performance on the whole, any team with pace in the transition is going to kill us. Too slow, and not enough effort. Barely able to beat a team on its arse and down to ten men.

What concerns me, is that spine is so slow. From what I’ve seen this weekend, 90% of football in this league is transitional. They purposely play on the shoulder to expose slow defences, it completely destroyed Sheffield United yesterday, no matter how good you are in possession, simple moves can completely undo you with a lack of pace.

I was about to defend Soumare to @J.Lisemore But the point he raised about not tracking runners, is now valid as Vesty is playing. Because it now leaves us with a major weakness. Our attack should be good enough to win the game, but that defence is there for the taking with Vesty in it.

Yes, however, yesterday proved that we simply can’t use Vesty, at all. Because if we do Wednesday have a glaring weakness to attack, and it doesn’t take a skilled footballer to exploit it, it’s as simple as a long ball and pace. Playing Vesty will be a massive error…. HAS to be Nelson and Pkoli for me, but Faes and Okoli would be better than Vesty.

They claimed Birmingham would win it at a canter again with no actual evidence to back up the claim. I think it is as simple as we turn up with the right attitude, we should win the thing comfortably, even with a points deduction if it isn’t ridiculous. I mean, just looking at the squad on paper, it should piss it.

I think it’s as poor as it’s been for a long time. I think, if you have a decent squad and a plan, you’re likely to win it. If we hit the ground running even with a points deduction we could run away with it, I don’t think it will be as close as previous seasons. Particularly with Leeds and Burnley out of the league this season.

Any form of loss today would be completely unacceptable. This isn’t a simple siege mentality situation….. this is a club on its arse, who’s staff aren’t sure if they’re going to be paid or not, this is a club being forced to play academy players who aren’t ready because they don’t have enough players, this is a club who’s senior players they have available we’re not necessarily starting last season. This is a club that’s lost all of its attacking competency and hasn’t replaced it. This isn’t a simple scenario of a club in the middle of an injury crises clubbing together, this is a case of a football club that may cease to exist if drastic action isn’t taken. We need to turn up with the right mentality, and aim to tear them apart, I want no mercy, I want no feeling sorry for them or taking it easy, I want to see us try to score as many goals as possible, I want us to destroy them, humiliate them, go for records. We need to lay a marker down, we’ve endured probably the worst 12 months in this clubs modern history, we simply have to start well. No compromising, nothing, let’s ****ing have them.
