Disagree, he’s nowhere near the quality Caicedo was for Brighton. He didn’t pull up any trees in the premier league, he’s a solid player but he’s not worth any more than £30m in my opinion, not enough in his game to justify it. I’m a bit surprised he’s gone to Chelsea if I’m being honest, can’t see where he fits in there. This is a good deal for us, a genuine talent they didn’t want to sell us, and we’ve got £30m towards PRS. The fact he’s home grown I think has naturally given us a bias opinion of him, but I genuinely don’t think he’s that good, he’s a solid steady player, but his attitude makes up for his slightly scrappy game.

So, for them he’s one of the ones to offload so they can invest elsewhere. Its not a reflection on Barnes as a player, its modern football now thanks to PRS and FFP, like we need to let KDH go they too need to let players go, and it seems like Barnes is an obvious choice mainly thanks for a not starter of a first season.
