Unfortunately despite that option being available most clubs seemingly opt for the barrier in front of existing seats. Less work and money I guess.
I think we'd all be amazed if they went for option 1. I still think they'll just stick a few rails in the places that fans stand in now....thats if they do anything at all.
I think it might be an age thing too. People who grew up with players who were often born in and around the county helped the connection between the fans and the players. The players werent untouchable spoiled overpaid premadonna's either and that really appealed to fans. Add into that the cheap tickets, pay at the gate etc...it was just simply more fun.
Not sure new generations care for any of that.
How do you know they aren't giving it to a women a job because they are the best candidate? Do you feel the same when a white male gets a job or just when it's a women or a person of colour...genuinely interested.
Very few english clubs have held onto their once passionate fanbase, we never rivaled most, but like every club in england the culture has dissapeared.
