  1. I doubt its money, much more not wanting the oiks to get what they ask for.
  2. I do wonder if there's a possibility in Scotland of introducing pyro ares like they have in europe and America. This way fans can still use it but in a more controlled safer environment. Its never going to happen in england of course fans wouldnt want it, authorities definately wouldnt but scotland seems very different.
  3. Seems pretty standard reaction in scotland. Just look how many rangers and celtic use on a regular basis you rarely hear of anything happening. Definately seem more relaxed about it north of the border, dont know why that is but its the end of the world if someone uses them in england.
  4. There's so few songs being sung now we're binning them....gonna get even quieter.
  5. And they dont seem to care about stewarding the one seat one person rule, the ultra sections always looked rammed.
  6. Have to say I have little time for pyro inside stadiums, unless its in a controlled environment, and this type of thing (if linked with ultras) doesn't help the cause south of the border. I understand what you're saying though pyro is everywhere in scotland. No-one seems to do anything, the police blame the clubs, clubs blame the police and it carries on, they don't seem to have the same structure as far as policing/stewarding games north of the border. I had a chat once with someone that was involved protesting a rule where clubs could be punished for their bad behaviour..i forget what it's called...but i believe we have it here but scotland doesn't, maybe others might know more. And is another reason why clubs don't really enforce any rules like they do here.
  7. Lets just hope we aren't humiliated.
  8. Oh I thought you meant he somehow try to stop the ultra group currently at Aberdeen, looks like they've gone from strength to strength, the fact he was involved with the ultras and got a top job shows the connection clubs in scotland have with their fans and the total disconnect south of the border. So it's a pretty good example imo. Looking at the ground as the players are coming out, looks top.
  9. Why what's happened?
  10. And the big advantage they have is the clubs (for the most part) actively work with them. A former ultra was employed by Aberdeen as a ' Supporter Experience Manager' - whilst our club don't even want leicester fans employed. England used to be light years behind Germany, Sweden, Italy etc...Now we're light years behind scotland, very sad, but great for our Scottish neighbours.
  11. walsall wood resign. Club statement Walsall Wood FC resigns from the league with immediate effect. It is with deep regret that Walsall Wood FC announces its resignation from the NPL Midlands Division, effective immediately. Despite the unwavering dedication and hard work of our volunteers, we have reached a point where we are unable to sustain the first team due to insufficient funds and a lack of communication from Justin Hodgin over the past four weeks. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the league committee members for their support and understanding during these challenging times. We want to emphasise that our grassroots section, which includes both boys' and girls' teams competing across several leagues (SGLFL, MJPL, JPL, MSJYL, and WJYL), remains strong and vibrant. This section will now take control of the club's operations, for the foreseeable future, working closely with our dedicated volunteers to ensure a viable Men's first team structure returns to Walsall Wood FC. Walsall Wood FC is proud to run several FA initiatives, including Comets, Just Play, Wildcats, and Squad Girls, which continue to engage and inspire our local community. We remain committed to providing a positive environment for young players and will work diligently to ensure the club remains a valuable asset to the community. Thank you for your continued support during this challenging time. We look forward to a new chapter for Walsall Wood FC focused on our grassroots development and community engagement.
  12. I wonder if the yoof of today will look back in 40 years and think the same?
  13. Cooper to Utd...you heard it here first.
  14. They'd of beaten us with TH in place. Be interesting to see who they get.
  15. Largest crowd for 5 years (since playoff game) just shows you the pull of wrexham, imagine saying that 5 years a go..
  16. I think the conclusion we can reach is there isn't just one reason the atmosphere is so poor, and there's no easy solutions to fix it. The problem we all have in England is the success of the league, they have a brand to protect, they want tourists to visit, the want to attract corporate fans. They don't weant loud mouth oiks who might tarnish the rep. Yes there are clubs that have more of a connection with their fan base and some have actively tried to help fans create a better atmosphere. Unless the club want to make changes (why would they?) or the premier league feel that the lack of atmoshphere is harmful to their profit margins, little will change. We used to look to Europe with envy, but now theres great atmospheres in places we wouldnt expect. And now there are improving, growing supporter scenes much closer to home, Scotland has shown if fans organize and if clubs are willing to listen fundemental change can happen. But do fans in Leicester (and England) want change enough?
  17. At least he'll be ok with the next fixture.
  18. This is what a derby atmosphere is supposed to be like.
  19. I think this would be true, I genuinely thought safe standing would make a difference to atmosphere, but you see it at other grounds and it really hasn't improved, we're a nation of standers for sure, but not of singers.
  20. Can't imagine another club that would have a worse atmosphere than we had for a 'derby game' on a Friday night. I think last nights a reminder of how bad our support is. Of course just a couple of seasons ago the same fixture produced a pretty good atmosphere, which does show we have (like many other english clubs) a 'sing when you're winning' mentality. The only way to change things is for the team to always win...good luck with that.
  21. What happened last time?, i was there never saw anything.
  22. How great was tommy wright, I miss the days of old fashioned wingers.
  23. I think it shows the club aren't out of touch, i would ague the majority want this sort of stuff.
