I think Moyes would take the job for the following reasons:- 1. He was given freedom to manage the Club (not be just a coach) - the board has historically not interfered. 2. We can throw money at him in terms of wages / bonuses for staying up. 3. Training ground etc. From the noises coming out of the Club (playing style), I don’t think they would go for Moyes. They do need someone though who can get us organised and ensure the defence is as watertight as possible.

Yeah, it’s a case of the first XI / squad maybe not being what we would ideally want but we have to be pragmatic and accept there may be only a few new additions. More important is the managerial appointment IMO. Someone who has the tactics to grind out results and he can get the most out of the players.

One of main reasons we won the prem in 2015-16 was our strong defence and if we are to stand a chance of staying up we will need to be organised and well set-up - so a manager with strong tactical attributes is a must IMO.

Given our financial position, unless someone comes in with a bid at least equal to his amortised value, then I think the lad has to be reintegrated into the side. Maybe if we move away from the inverted full backs he can be happy and kick on. Challenge will on the new manager to ensure the team is balanced, find the best tactical set-up based on what we have and we compensate for Vestergaard’s lack of pace.

The board needs to crack on now. Let's not waste time flirting with Potter only to get rejected (again). identify a pragmatic, hungry manager who is up the challenge and go all out to appoint them.

Agreed, I think it is time to say thanks Wilf and move on. His best performances in the prem were a few years back and when you balance that against his injury record, wages and our need to bring wage costs down its best we look elsewhere. That said I think we will need someone with similar attributes, a box to box midfielder, with physicality and good turnover stats.

Italian teams v.unlikely to cough up that sort of fee - you might get it from a side in the prem / or might have before PSR became such an issue.

Haven’t they changed their (football operation) back office management in last couple of years. Adding people like Monchi etc. compare Villa to us….a year or two back we were top dogs, failed to replace Rodgers and Rudkin and we fell on our arse. investment is not just needed in bricks and mortar e.g Seagrave. point being whoever comes in as manager we should still look to enhance the football operation.

No doubt money (that is salary package, not transfer war chest) will be a factor. Also the opportunity to manage in the prem / using us as a shop window will be attractive for others. There will be a long list of potential managers wanting the job, and the decision I think is do they go for someone who sees us as a project for a number of years (sticking with us if we are relegated)or someone who will likely have an impact but be off as soon as someone in top 6 shows a bit of leg. That’s not to say the calibre of names will match with ideally what some fans would want. And probably expect whoever comes in will end up splitting opinion.

What is undeniably worse is that the protagonists behind it all are all still in place.

The point of concern I think is not so much Enzo going, but the prospect of Rudders being able to deliver a replacement who is on a par / better. You would like to think like Brighton we have prepared - I fear we don't have much of a clue where to go. Hope to be proved wrong.

One potential downside is expecting Rudders to oversee the recruitment of a new manager, contract renewals, player exits and incomings.

Nothing would surprise me…….
