Will Alves - loaned to Cardiff City
honeybradger replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'd still rather have Ruud. If we keep Cooper then he pushes for that 'goalkeeper to challenge Hermansen' in the winter transfer window that he was allegedly so desperate for, leaving Stolarczyk in the wilderness. We would be going down either way, I couldn't have handled any more pointless Cooper-led signings. -
He was lined up to make a 60 mil move to PSG in the 2020 summer before his injury happened.

It's pretty normal for the some of the best strikers to start out as wingers. Van Persie, Henry, Lewandowski all started as wingers, im sure there's more. His skillset is more valuable as a striker in my opinion, it's harder to find a striker who can drive with the ball and run in behind than a clinical winger.

Will Alves - loaned to Cardiff City

Steve Cooper did one worse and opted to play Choudhury at CAM in pre season instead of giving Alves a chance. That man actively did not want Alves to succeed in order to force the club to bring in new signings. Cooper will always be one of our worst ever in my mind no matter the revision around him.- 747 replies

He's playing well against championship opposition despite looking raw, which is good to see as it means that there is still room for improvement. -
The key difference is that Leicester were in the championship last year. Faes was still the same player making boneheaded decisions under Maresca, we just weren't punished by championship sides for those mistakes because most of the forwards in that league couldnt hit a barn door. Look at our game against QPR this season for example, both teams at full strength and we blew them away. Last year Leicester struggled in both games. Even with Maresca we brought in Coady, Winks and Cannon for far too high transfer fees and in Coady and Winks case far too high wages. The pile on of dead wood at this club will continue until Rudkin is gone.
-
The players won't play for anyone because they don't have it in them to play football to a good enough level. We've seen the likes of Faes, Soumare, Kristiansen etc under multiple managers now and they haven't cut it. If we get rid of Ruud and keep Rudkin we just sign more dead wood in the summer and bring in another awful manager. Rudkin has to be first out the door.

Apparently I've developed memory loss from knocking one out too often so I can't remember.

His performances from December 2018 up to his injury vs Villa were some of the best we've seen in a Leicester shirt. yes it's not worked out since then but you can't really consider value for money when talking about a player who brought so much joy to the fans. Same for Vardy and to a lesser extent Ndidi. I will always remember him fondly irrespective of how much he earned whilst injured.

How much did Chelsea ruin us this season?

The KDH and Maresca sales were not in the same accounting period as the Skipp, Reid etc buys. Selling kristiansen would have resulted in a further loss as sales go on the accounting books as (sell value) - (purchase value)*(years since purchase/contract length) and we wouldnt have been able to sell for £10mil. -

We were outplayed by Ipswich and Southampton under Cooper, the only reason he got points against them (half his points tally) were them getting two silly red cards. He benched Fatawu and Ricardo, signed Ayew, Cordova Reid and Skipp. Cooper was a horrible manager for us, the best thing he did was getting sacked and getting replaced by Van Nistelrooy as it made him look half competent in comparison. I say this as someone who thought he would do a job for Leicester when he signed because of what he did at Forest so I had no bias against him. -

This is why I will not have any Steve Cooper revisionism. Him benching Pereira in favour of Justin/Kristiansen was such a horrible decision. -
I think it's one of the few blessings this club have that we have a 15 year old at Monga's level. It's strange to me that you seem to want to paint it as a negative. In my opinion it was more of a sign of where we are as a club when we brought in 33 year old Jordan Ayew, 29 year old Reid and 24 year old Skipp to keep us in the PL. Recognising a young player's ability early on in his career and giving him opportunities at u21 and even senior level is something a progressive and well run club would do, these are the kind of decisions we need to be making if we want to become a respectable outfit again.
-
No one's expecting him to come in and provide miracles ffs. Why are the standards for young academy players so much higher than our 'seasoned pros'? All he has to do is come in and play at the same or lower level than Ayew and Reid have been allowed to play at all season. The standards should be lower for young players, i have more tolerance watching them put in a below Premier league level performance than our highly paid so called 30 yr old veterans.
-
All he has to do is be the same or better than Ayew, Reid, Bouanaotte, Daka etc. A few nice touches is an improvement on what we already have.

I think if we invest the 25mil we spent on skipp on 3 good players we have a chance of staying up. We were more likely to spend our budget wisely under Enzo than Cooper. -
I'm surprised we've had any
-
This heap of crap is built upon the foundations he laid here. Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen, Soumare, Daka, Justin all brought in under his tenure. He's the anti Pearson
-
Just there for show sadly and potentially to increase his compensation fee. Everything about the club is really sickening right now.

You've got to feel for Coulibaly, looked OK when played and not even making the bench now

The club are going to give Monga his first team debut tonight to spite anyone who chose to watch the u21s instead by the way. -

The fact that he's 21 and only has 6 appearances for us is really really shocking from the club. I say 'shocking' but it's expected at this point, the club seem set on not giving him a chance, rather bring in a new centreback every summer ie. Coady, Okoli and resign Vestergaard for 3 years. -
The second we saw articles that Martin was a 'Brendan Rodgers regen' you just knew that they club are going to move Heaven and Earth to make him our manager.
-
Got more about him than Skipp at least but I'd prefer they are both moved on.
