Development/Youth Squads 2023/2024 Thread - U18/U21

How to come across as a **** -
Would be a dream to mark, never takes his full back on and doesn't have end product. Can't fault his effort mind. As good as Albrighton was 2nd half today, he's not suited to how we play now, it needs to be a winger who will run at full backs. Mavididi and Fatawu are perfect. Manuel Benson at Burnley would be a lovely 6 month pickup.
-
I'd really like to see us get a winger in, just some capable backup to Mavididi and Fatawu
-
If he can stay fit, he could really thrive in this side. Buzzing to see this get completed.

Proud day for the academy today, all of the new lads did themselves no harm at all. Funny how we have an awful U21 side but do create players capable of adapting to first team football (not Wanya, he's doggo) -

LCFC Vs. Birmingham City (3-0 W) Post Match Thread

Cover played well, but Ricardo showed what a specialist position that is, and how when done well it creates so many passing options for our centre backs. Was a tad unfair to play a youngster there in hindsight, but Cover didn't let himself down at all. -

Disagree with this, he was far more aggressive than Doyle was, and defended far wider. Completely stopped their right hand side. -

He isn't playing as an 8 at all, he's so much closer to the cf than Praet was. And is never in our defensive 3rd. That's a 10 for me. -

Subs changed the game, especially Ricardo who offers us so much, that game really highlighted it. We owe Stolaryczyk alot, saved us first half and had an excellent match, Nelson also very good. Thought Yunus grew into it wonderfully and is slowly developing into a proper number 10 -

Abysmal. That midfield especially has been horrific, Hamza has been so lethargic and Praet/Yunus are so weak on the ball. Stolaryczyk and Nelson have impressed but boy, I can see why Enzo doesn't trust his bench. -

Phone has aids now, top work 🤣 -
If...and it's a huge if, we sell for 30m We best be bringing in Sensi, O'Hare and Nanasi for 15m max.
-
I can see it being really appealing in the summer, he won't be a star player next year (in my opinion), and the instant FFP boost and release of funds to bring 3 or 4 in would be a smart financial decision. Not now, not with 5 days left of the window, not when we are already short in his position.
-
Similarly to us not wanting to sell, I find it difficult to think Brighton will drop 30m on a 25 year old, when their model is built around spending 10-20 on players aged 19 to 23. Something just not right at all about it. It's either agent bullshit, us wanting to create a market for him, or us wanting enzo to shut up about wanting more money and threatening to sell his best player to do so.
-
Would be amazed if this happened. I could see us selling him in the summer though if someone was willing to pay 35-40. Could easily invest that into 3 or 4 really talented players. Now isn't the time though. I do however, think Kiernan has a technical ceiling to his game that is mid-table prem. It would be madness to sell him now though.
-
Seems to be a little chat that David Brooks could leave Bournemouth on loan this January. I'd like to see us all over that. I do worry that we need to add more physicality to midfield though, with Casadei gone, Wilf is the only midfielder with any real height
-
Was just coming on here to suggest the same thing. Maybe even Baleba at a push? Enzo will want someone who can be up to speed with his methods quickly, that suggests either Brighton or Man City
-
O'Hare as a number 10/left wing option would be really smart. I can't see Coventry letting him go though.
-
Luke Thomas to Middlesbrough until the end of the season

It's a really good move, a good coach to play under, will suit his game too. All the best to the lad.- 94 replies

Can see Klopp taking a year or so off and then replacing Carlo at Madrid. Liverpool have to go for Xabi Alonso, makes so much sense.
-
True, but I can imagine Ayoze was far keener to make that for personal reasons. Can't imagine Kel giving it the "Hola me ode" in Seville
-
Curious as to whether Enzo didn't bring him on during Monday night for fear of him breaking down and stopping this move.
-
They've just lost Inglesias to Leverkusen but I'd argue very different types of forward. Would be shocked if they could offer him the wages he'd take too
-
Southampton will run into chaos from March when they actually play sides who attack them.
