Post match: Cobblers 0-1 Foxes (friendly)
HeskeyForever replied to Daggers's topic in Leicester City Forum
Only Leicester City would have Vestegaard and Souttar come up for a corner, just to play it short. Thought we were excellent, dominated and so exciting to see Maresca imprint his style on the squad. Seeing Wilf burst down the right wing was so bizarre but he certainly didn't look out of place in doing so. -
Hopefully he finds himself something! Think I read something saying that he had so many family bereavements just after leaving Leicester, which was bound to take its toll on his professional career. He's not the right player for us to take back, but I always thought he was a fantastic servant to the club and always fought for the shirt, deserving a move away when he wanted to try something new.
-
Pretty good chance that Maddison's only trophy in his playing career will be with Leicester - which is hilarious. I'm glad he's agreed personal terms with them - I can't see the club being too stubborn as we definitely need to start our rebuild this week, so anything from 40 million with some add ons should seal it.
-
Don't mind that there's not immediate activity. I feel like for a brand new manager to come in and assess what needs to be done, a good week of work before making rash decisions will likely help us in the long run. I think we have to be more patient that expecting us to be ****ed because we haven't moved in the transfer market - it's open for a long time yet and it's a very long season ahead. We've made so so many rash transfers since winning the league and ended up much worse off because of it. We've got to trust Enzo and let him do his job before assuming he can't.

Ffs a player who can't get into Wolves' team was joint top in the assists chart last season. If Ricky P stays with us and stays fit I reckon he'll break the record.

Random / Semi Unheard of Players you’ve spotted that we should look at
HeskeyForever replied to Sly's topic in Transfer Talk
I feel like we already have a player with similar attributes in Soumare who should improve under Maresca's coaching - just needs his confidence back and he'll dominate the Championship. -
Probably resulting from Brendan's tyranny, Ndidi looked so shot of confidence that he became quite difficult to watch towards the end of the season. He seems like a really decent person and I wish him well - filling Kante's boots was pretty much impossible, but for a while, Big Wilf managed it.
-
Good to make that much back to be honest. Reasonably solid and one of the few that actually looked like he cared about us losing games, so I wish him well. If we keep Ricky P fit this season he'll probably win the league by himself this season.

Manager for the Championship rebuild - who do you want?
HeskeyForever replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Gives us something to be excited about, rather than the same, tired faces. Arguably, Man City are the only other team with training facilities as modern and high-tech as Seagrave; evidently, they maximise the potential from the facilities. Better still, Maresca has had a chance to see how the best coach in world football uses them to get the best possible results. Judging by the way Tielemans was running towards the end of the season, Dean Smith probably reintroduced Bovril as part of player recovery. Will be good to have someone in with a modern philosophy and knowhow to make the most of the high-tech facilities on offer. With an entirely new squad, Maresca can build a new culture too - one that doesn't constantly need to refer back to our PL winning success; that era is over. We need a new one now. -
Honestly just get him out - seems like an absolute passenger who has zero emotional response regardless of what's happening on the pitch.
-
Much needed leadership in the dressing room and would bring some Andy King vibes that served us so well last time we got promoted. He ran our current midfield ragged last time we played Fulham too - which doesn't say a lot, but he looks like he's a fighter too.

Thanks Brendan ..... you useless f....

This. Precisely what the **** has Brendan Rodgers won in his life that would lead him to not take a European competition seriously. -
If Rudkin gives Dean Smith the job permanently!
HeskeyForever replied to Thebluefox85's topic in Leicester City Forum
Not sure I fully agree - I think 5-6 of their best players will still leave and they'll command smaller fees than Maddison and Barnes - they will be left with a very mediocre Championship squad and won't be able to attract the quality that we will. Plus they're getting David Brent Todger Rodgers 2.0 - I'd rather be a shambles than that. -
I still love Youri and wish him the best. Can you imagine scoring THAT goal to win the FA Cup, only to have some twat with lips as dry as a camel's arsehole tell you that you're only good enough to 'maybe survive the drop'. The perfect opportunity to sell him came along and we wanted to cling to the completely misguided hope that we'd qualify for Europe again this season (or the one before) which would make him want to say. I think poor communication and understanding what his hopes and ambitions are as a player left him with no choice but 'run down his contract'.
-
Really good commercial revenue if there's nothing contractually obliging us to play our first team. If it makes financial sense for Liverpool, Tottenham, Bayern and Roma to do it, then we certainly can't afford to miss out. Send the U23s to play the game, spread the global brand and don't let it impact our preparation for the first game in the Championship.

Manager for the Championship rebuild - who do you want?
HeskeyForever replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Would agree with your first two - I think I'd be relatively happy with Nuno Espirito Santo too if he was being considered. My issue with Smith is that despite the fact that he only had 8 games, there wasn't really a noticeable improvement in the way we played. He also made some decisions that were really questionable, like waiting until the Newcastle game to shut up shop and grind out points. I was bitterly disappointed in his post-match interview when he suggested that it was positive that we took Everton to the final game of the season - he had multiple games where he could have adopted a similar approach and chose not to. The most compelling reason not to keep him in my opinion is that he's already formed bad habits, allowed some players to play with complacency and ultimately, overseen the relegation of the club. If we're to return to being more ruthless, we need to be much more critical of underperformance and in my view, Smith failed in the main job he came here to do. I don't believe that he has the skill or capacity to fully utilise Seagrave either, which is something we desperately need from our new manager. -
Leftovers - Who's The Best We Can Keep?
HeskeyForever replied to Trav Le Bleu's topic in Leicester City Forum
Vardy is on 140k p/w at present. Even if he has a maximum (reported) relegation clause of 50%, he'd still be on 70k p/w. By this season's standards, that would still make him the highest paid player in the Championship. This expenditure, for someone who's about to turn 37 in January, seems absolutely wild and unless he opts for an additional pay cut himself, I personally think we need to try to terminate his contract. I have no doubt that he will score a good few goals in the Championship, but we have no room for sentimentality and we certainly can't afford to have any passengers, or extremely highly paid players constantly in our medical room. Man City have been excellent at dealing with the brutal reality of professional football - Aguero has a statue outside their ground, but they didn't offer him a new deal because they knew that he wasn't offering what he once could. Vardy is probably our greatest ever player, but on those wages, we can't afford to let him stay. -
Technically, he's way off it as far as Premier League football goes. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about that any more, so I think it makes perfect sense to keep him here this season. He's athletic, energetic and clearly effective at breaking up play at Championship level, so I don't see why we need to buy another CDM. Moreover, despite being absolutely bollocks on the ball, he's never once showed an inkling that he doesn't care about the club - he's a local player and will be part of a core group of players who actually give a shit about our future as a club.

Realisation of Championship Football
HeskeyForever replied to Hitesh's topic in Leicester City Forum
A break from people who are clearly Manchester United/City, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool fans getting their hands on tickets in the home sections. Worse still - those fans somehow getting their hands on season tickets so they can 'go to the big games'.- 84 replies

So, Players for the Championship rebuild, who do you want?
HeskeyForever replied to Sir Shep's topic in Transfer Talk
I reckon we should aim for Chair too if we're aiming to sign him permanently - I would rather we sign Carlos Borges from Man City on loan as another option. -
Don't think we can look too much into Southampton either to be honest - I think their budget and structure didn't really allow them to have any sort of proven quality to bring in and so, relied on relatively unproven players to keep them up - which in fairness, they did for a while. I liked the signings of Souttar and Kristiansen - both joined a deeply flawed defensive unit, who were coached awfully in a team that was floundering and had zero belief. I don't think we can judge them based on our outcomes this season - the desperation and poor management around the club jades that too much. Souttar will be playing in a league that he's comfortable with so he can settle and I'd imagine Kristiansen will benefit largely from getting to grips with the physicality of the division; both settling in Leicestershire. I think they'll be important players in our future.

His approach has always been to leave footballing matters to people who have a far more experience within the game. I'd imagine this is a lesson learnt from their over-involvement near the beginning of their tenure when they got Sven in, alongside a heap of ridiculously expensive players who weren't up to the Championship. Is this approach to his detriment - on this occasion, yes. The reality of modern football ownership is completely disassociated with our priorities as fans - so to have an owner who has a personal investment like Top means that we at least get some alignment. Thinking long term, rather than the recent downturn in our fortunes, Top's most recent investments will reap rewards. We need to right manager and DoF to maximise our world class training facilities. We'll have a much bigger stadium to support a growing fanbase and I still have faith that we will see success again at the King Power.

So, Players for the Championship rebuild, who do you want?
HeskeyForever replied to Sir Shep's topic in Transfer Talk
A target man. Missed it so much. Give me a mix between prime Steve Howard and substitute bench Leo Ulloa. -
In more brutal circumstances, he could have sold us to an awful American investment group along with our debts and we would have been plunged into the depths of English football - possibly for the rest of our lives. Of course he's made a mistake in allowing Rudkin to direct footballing matters for as long as he has, but to have an owner who has a genuine personal investment in the club is what makes us so special. I genuinely believe that to direct abuse at Top for 'letting players run down contracts', rather than the shameless, scumbag group who barely broke a sweat when we desperately needed them to perform is where we're going wrong.

Who should be new club captain?
HeskeyForever replied to Wasyls Pec Deck's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'd like Souttar or KDH personally. Club captain needs to drive standards and hold people accountable - one of the small glimmers of positivity from yesterday was seeing KDH giving Barnes, Soumare and a couple of others a bollocking when they didn't make a run that they should have. We need that in truckloads.
