City of Leicester & Leicestershire - The Good and Historical Stuff

I remember looking at the Premier League win parade overhead tv shots and thought it showed the City centre in a good way as well as a wonderful occasion -

That was good advice and also something I do. It can be a good thing to ride on those open top bus tours in some of the tourist cities. Riding above the traffic and almost eye level look as the architecture is rewarding. -
Gone but not forgotten and certainly not the death list

I remember John Woodvine and his north east accent. Good actor married to another good actor Lynn Farleigh -
Find myself thinking of the Welsh valleys for some reason

Thank you Parafox. The accident happened in a town down south probably the same size as Loughborough so not in a city. I have sympathy for the staff doing a job I couldn't imagine doing. I know bed blocking is a serious problem and I guess the social care crisis is part of the reason. My neighbour is out of hospital and recovering at home. She was the youngest on the hip replacement ward by some years

We don't have a pond but see the odd frog or two in the back of the borders. Good as they eat the slugs and snails. Don't think neighbours have a pond though there is a brook not far away.

Parafox will have a lot of experience and I hasten to add this is not a criticism of The Ambulance Service or medics but I simply share what we should expect. My next door neighbour had a fall by the road outside of her work. 56 year old. Broke her hip was in extreme pain could not move or be moved by untrained people who were with her. Had to wait 2 hours for the Ambulance which I understand is within the categories. Nearest hospital was 10 miles away but this was full so taken to another across the next county which was about 20 miles away. Had to have a new ball and socket fitted.

Yes. Guilty of manslaughter. Hardly a minor crime whatever the circumstances.

The lack of moral compass of some people is frightening. Lack of love and empathy for their children and others.

Always voted Labour myself

It may be naive of me but I would love if all English people of all colours and creed etc etc could be comfortable and happy to see the English flag in all situations. The same goes for all British people regarding the Union flag. It seems OK for other flags to be shown and tolerance is expected and no questions asked as to the motives.

Can only speak from own personal experience in my little corner of blighty and despite what makes the news all calm and peaceful and hopefully will remain so

Rank The Below Sporting Events

We moan about stoppages in football but nothing compared to American Football and the time it takes to play a match. Perhaps it is live chess but chess is not a great spectator sport either despite the cerebral input -

Because the beautiful game even if flawed is beautiful Because of its simplicity. As for American football Rugby already popular in UK, Ireland and France so don't need something so long winded instead -
Don't expect it to last but Stevenage top of League One currently.

Keep wondering if Palace are us 10 years later? -
Maybe for Ipswich but not as good as Jordan and Abdul yesterday

This is the result of short sighted government thinking you can cut to the bone and for it not to affect the fabric of the country. We all need to care and look after our environment but austerity was and is not healthy.

I've banged on about the need for more decent social housing at reasonable rents for working people. People that discard litter and fly tip need to be punished as there can be no reason to do it and costs a lot of public money to clear up.

What we don't need are mobs on either side demanding what they want without any care for our democracy

Excellent post. Thank you
