I remember the Kop applauding us off. Our players came over to us first so it was a good 5 minutes after the end, and not just people waiting at the exit. It was quality. I recall the missiles. First coins, then whatever else that they could find. It was literally the best and worst of Liverpool fans. Your angry mob also got to the supporter's coaches, firstly trying to attack the fans, then chucking all sorts at the buses. It was a welcome treat after the FA Cup howler earlier that week. I went to Anfield again 3 years later on Boxing day when the score was repeated. There wasn't so much emotion or anger that time. Lineker and Smith scored early on and it was another great day. And so the story of us being Liverpool's bogey team continued.

Peardon yelled FOAD to a couple of people shouting at him when we were having a bad spell. If he fails to improve the team now he could have hundreds screaming at Rudkin, Top, the team, and probably him. The man has been ill so I wouldn't want our infected club stalling his rehabilitation (not that I know the details of his illness but it would still worry me). -
The funeral suggestion is just brilliant.... And

Wouldn't happen because if Rudkin was pictured arm in arm with Epstein, Top would would have been there with him.

The way that that much of the Kop applauded is an incredible and abiding memory. Thanks for reminding me about that. Also, a funny thought was that Alan Young got to score a goal in the legendary Anfield Kop end. Shame that it was an own goal .

Liverpool 1 Leicester City 2; January 1981. I was a teenager and it's strange to imagine now that it felt like we had won a cup final given the power and quality of Liverpool during that era. And they hadn't lost at home for a couple of years. Sadly no highlights anywhere.

"I don't really know how this happened " - Me, upon Leicester managing to avoid relegation to League One 2026.

That 10 foot square piece of turf that he ambled around at the KP will be able to grow back now. -

No, Parker is Spiderman. -
Have they not considered that in their heat Soumare will move around, challenge and run even less than he had been for us.
-
2016- delirious celebrations outside the KP. 2026- lynch mobs outside the KP.

Sadly several of our recent managers believe that Vestergaard is a modern incantation of Maldini.

I wonder what a pair of defenders like Coatsworth and Feeley would make of having Hamza and Soumare playing in front of them. Ouch! -
Speaking of Mike Ashley; 6 years ago today I watched my team dismantle and beat Newcastle United 3-0 at St James's Park. It's crazy to think that we were the favourites for the win and we're very good for it in front of a packed St James's. There were chants during the game asking Ashley to kindly leave the club (insert a couple of expletives). Now look at Leicester City and look at what the future might well be for Newcastle. Thanks King Power for your enterprising stewardship.

Ah but will he be able to do it on a cold wet night in Milan?
-
No, I don't think that he has it tactically. It should have been more comfortable second half playing on the counter. Most coaches have this in the bank. His bosses may be telling him to make something of the players who are being paid so much and they might have a point. Either way he should be getting more out of the squad.
