Most expensive does not make it the best. Our midfield options are poor.

WE DON'T!!!!!!

I think it's as simple as someone who changes the game and does something the starting 11 just couldn't do. I suppose you could say if Nacho hadn't been offside then he did something that Vardy wasn't able to do from the starting 11. From a midfield perspective, someone to replace Ndidi who would press and charge forward. Surprised Yunus didnt get a sniff, but do i really think he or Praet would have done something the existing midfield weren't doing? Not sure. I actually started to worry when the rumours about KDH came out and Enzo didn't get Sensi. I think there have been a few things bubbling away behind the scenes for a while once management knew they needed to internally confess about the FFP situation. Once information gets in the hand of their agents, the mood can change pretty quickly. Once KDH knew that he was gone no matter what, our entire midfield minus Winks was full of players who to some degree have nothing left to play for. I don't care what anyone says, even if you think a player is the biggest saint and Leicester fan on the planet, their mentality is different once they know they are going. Ndidi, KDH and Preat are all in that position now, and have a strong suspicion that Yunus already knows he won't be here no matter what. That is a shocking position for our club to be in, and there is nothing Enzo can do about that. He can man manage them as best as he thinks possible, but he can't get in KDH's or Ndidi's head and pull them over the line. If he had top tier alternatives then he could delve into that, but we don't.

You say 'pro Enzo' like it's some sort of illness. I appreciate the job done up until about 5 games ago, and think he can lay the foundations for a longer term project. He is inexperienced and us somewhat living with that came with the appointment. I don't think we have a squad good enough though and i think there is too much hyperbole with the quality of it, especially the midfield. I kept saying early in the season we would have a sticky patch and part of me wishes it was around christmas where lots of teams struggled, as the optics for losing that lead are messing with everyone's minds. For the record, i never once thought we would 'pi55 the league' and thought we wouldn't be in the position we are right now. I also think there is more stuff going on behind the scenes that we know about (both FFP and general poor leadership). All this happening at once is a lot for an inexperienced appointment to deal with. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that our leadership are just letting him get on with it whilst they work out how to cover their asses and firmly remain up Tops backside. I think calls for sacking are silly. We are still right in this, and watching Leeds yesterday tells me they aren't going to have this their own way.

The point i responded to was : We have one of the best sides this league has ever seen That's not even making the case for being above average is it? People are still blowing hot air up their backsides that Nacho played really well the year we won the FA cup, The Preat is an international (actually used to be - hasn't been picked for ages), that KDH is the best player in the Championship and that Ndidi is still that monster from a few seasons ago. That's before you look at the fact there are no further options on the bench (well - depending on how you view Yunus). The more i look at it, the worse out midfield options are.
-
Dont agree - sorry. But you have every right to feel as you do (as does everyone). Look at our midfield on paper again, its not great. Its even worse when you understand that only one of them (Winks) is a player who isn't known to be leaving. But to tackle your points briefly, if I am McKenna, I wouldn't touch Kels with a barge pole (there is a reason we haven't been able to offload him). They aren't where they are just because of Hirst. They've been able to recruit a squad around their playing philosophy. It didn't just click this year - it took time. We still have a mishmash of overpaid average players and prima donnas who don't want to be here. Souttar - i don't know. I wasn't sold on him when we bought. But i don't think he sorts our our midfield anyway where our biggest issues are. Doyle is a kid. Played on loan for Cov in a team that didn't get promoted. Good passer, but slower than my wife after a curry. KDH isn't the best player in the division because he thinks he is. The best player in the division can use both feet. There are many better out there but KDH has managed to build a reputation as 'the best' somehow. Lets hope that reputation lends itself to the transfer fee when he goes, but don't be surprised when the average player goes for an average fee. Brighton aren't idiots. Wilf had a renaissance at the start of the season, but before he got injured we started to see some massive howlers from him. Remember him missing some sitters from close range?! Now, 8 games (well - not if in the playoffs ) away from a huge signing on fee somewhere, the performances are nowhere where they were. They won't be - and i warned about this. Any player who knows they are out (contract or pre agreed transfer fee) mentally checks out - like it or not. It's all average mate - not brilliant. The best thing we can do is accept this and as fans do everything we can do to elevate that average across the line. If we need to stroke KDH's balls a little to make him feel that he is special then lets do it - anything to get us out of this division. But i am not going to think anymore that this is somehow an elite ensemble of the best the Championship has ever seen. It's really not.

lolz! So when I challenge 'this is the best squad the championship has ever seen', i'm not allowed to compare to squads that are actually better all of a sudden? Posters aren't saying - we are better than a lot, there is an overwhelming point being raised that this is in fact 'the best'. Its not - not by a long way. If people are happy to accept that our midfield is actually only average in this division, then maybe our form might be understood a bit more.

I love Sharky, but this is a guy who couldn't get in the West Brom team last year. I never doubt his experience would offer something, but i'm not going to pretend he is the game changing sub thats going to rip up the form book.

There is almost cataclysmic levels of delusion going on, made worse by our good run in the early winter period where many other teams struggled. My favourite deluded point when we were doing well was 'with the best squad ever seen in the championship, my nan could win this league'. Fans are on another level sometimes. Although we had some half decent incomings in the summer window, what we actually did was a small percentage of what was needed. This forum was a basket case of fans demanding we keep Nacho and Ndidi because they will be playing (and in Nachos case) scoring for fun in this league. We are now suffering the consequences for keeping average players with no winning mentality who have one foot (and a toe from the other foot) in the departure lounge. Enzo got a good song out of this lot at the start and middle of this season. Now its not working. Those on the way out have seen their performances drop massively. KDH isn't going to be turn into some sort of machine if we play 4-4-2. His mind is elsewhere. Ndidi turned from 'Ndidio' into a Soumare tribute act yesterday. This is the players not doing their jobs properly, because they don't have to anymore.
-
I mention Praet because one of the big arguments is that Enzo doesn't use the bench. Preat is your game changing sub who can change the game? I despair.

We arguable have one of the better midfields when they are performing. Since Wilf fell off a cliff (and got injured), and KDH entered the exit lounge, our midfield offers nothing. We can't rely and Winks for everything especially the role he plays. Hamza (quite rightly) took pelters for the goal yesterday but at that stage of the match our midfield pressed no one and gave away huge amounts of space in the middle of the pitch. This is a big problem - and a bigger problem than any system we try to play. This assumption from our fanbase that our team is somehow better than it really is. Especially the midfield. You wouldn't see Ndidi or Praet waltzing into the Leeds team (im pretty sure the Leeds management would have found a way to get rid and replace). I look at what Leeds have in those central and attacking positions with a little envy im afraid. Its not because of the manager - its because i think they have better players. Better players that are actually struggling themselves. KDH hasn't been 'found out'. Like Ndidi, Praet and Nacho - he's in the exit lounge. He's simply not performing now because he doesn't have to, and his fitness is more important than our results.
-
I don't know why this gets banded about still. We might have one of the most expensive squads ever seen, but its nowhere near being one of the best. Our midfield is actually piss poor. Ndidi's redemption now looks like it was a short term flash in the pan (he was dropping off before his injury) and he was a player who has been horrific for at least 2 seasons. Winks is tidy but very rarely does anything progressive and KDH is a one footed fraud. Praet is an imbecile who hasn't wanted to step foot in Leicestershire for the last 3 seasons and Yunus is probably a winger, probably an attack midfielder - nobody knows. And that's it my friend - thats what Enzo has to pick from. We have a terrible midfield massively overrated by the fans. They can barely pass, can't cross and heaven forbid if we get set piece.

I often feel my memory isn't what it used to be, but there seems to be a huge issue with posters having their say without remember some basic facts such as who is suspended, who is injured, who has just come back from injury etc....
-
Leeds looked crap for most of that. We just need to get winning again.

Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'

Heard from where exactly? -
You just need to keep him on his right foot. He will keep going, and going, and going, and going until he can do something with his left.
-
Always someone elses fault why our support are shite. I am sure the silent old bloke behind me taps my shoulder when i'm a little too loud is like that because is the Top etc. Even with all the restrictions in place, you would still think our fans would be up for it far more than they are.

We should be trying to make the KP a fortress so that the opposition sh1t the bed. Instead it will be people turning up late, moaning, filtering out 5 mins before the end of each half. Despair of our lot sometimes.

The positivity the bloke brought with him has vanished. What worries me is that all the good he brought with him has been ground out of him. Its the sort of thing i've seen at companies where there is a toxic culture running it. They 'want' to bring people in to change it, and at first they are often happy to accept a few changes, but over time everyone in charge reverts to form and slowly grinds the goodness out of people. I fear the biggest issue with our club is the directorship and senior management. Whilst they are performing below standards, they will drag everyone else down to their level. -

Really, really bad. Feels like the turning point of the season for me. For a variety of reason a number of them have checked out and aren't up for it. Last 10 mins we were playing like we were 2-0 up. -
He stepped up against Chelsea because it was in his interests to do so. I feel more than ever if someone knows that they leaving then they mentally check out, even if they don't think they will. Some of that was terrible from him today, but there was the odd good moment. But its not up to the standards he thinks he is at.

If Daka was missing these he would be getting an absolute caning on here. He’s not taken these chances well at all.

Whats a Praet?
