Middlesbrough (H) 1-2 - Post-Match Thread

I counted five chances (including the one Vardy scored) that you'd really expect to be put away at this level. It was actually becoming comical by the end. -

Ah fair enough. They claimed it was Engel at the start of the first half not Clarke and that they'd got it wrong. -

Well comms have definitely made a mistake then, but now I'm not sure where exactly ๐ -

It wasn't Clarke who got booked in the first half apparently. Comms made a mistake. -
My sister-in-law is from Middlesbrough. Once, at a family Christmas party (around 2011 I seem to recall) she took the last vol-au-vent that I'd been eyeing up. Hope we smash these b@stards as sweet, sweet revenge.

Well played sir. The fact that this is still irritating some people is superb. Please introduce more Americanisms into the thread as we go along.

Absolutely this. Stability through the centre and chaos on the wings.

Damn right. If I can't be optimistic now, then when?

Mavs is going to be nutmegging the sh1t of players next season before scuffing his shot into the bottom corner. Love the dude. Also think there's going to be a lot less low blocking/doubling up next season which means both Mav and Fats potentially have more space to exploit behind their full backs.

I have absolutely no doubt Enzo will be watching and analysing Burnley's season in some detail. Whatever happens next season, and assuming we get promoted, he'll have his 'solutions' lined up. He speaks in the Percy article about how every club has all available information about every other club and his job is to provide th player with new ideas and ways of winning. That's the sort of statement that doesn't speak of tactical inflexibility to me. I also think he'll be reasonably well backed in the summer, taking FFP into account. As he was this summer.

Don't be a snob. I met Dave down the cricketers last summer after a particularly turgid T20 and, let me tell you, after we'd both sunk ten pints of old original he spoke inspirationally about the utility of the inverted full back.

One of those strange transfer situations where I wouldn't be particularly vexed whichever way it went, I can see the benefits of him staying, and the arguments for shaking hands and going our separate ways. One of the things I find interesting is player longevity in the modern era of intensive monitoring of player fitness levels. Thiago has been mentioned. Modric is another one who played at the highest level whilst hardly being a spring chicken. Are we going to see more and more players extend their careers beyond what was once the norm?Particularly players who haven't ever relied on pace or, where they did, can reinvent themselves a bit. A lot of it will come down to career injuries and just basic desire to keep going - but some players simply can't get enough. Look at Cech! Not sure on Vesty's injury record but could see him being a player who chugs along for a good few seasons yet - wherever he may be.

Absolutely superb insight that. Blokes going all the way to the top isn't he? Let's enjoy the ride whilst he's here.

City of Leicester & Leicestershire - The Good and Historical Stuff
Bordersfox replied to davieG's topic in General Chat
Which is exactly how it was when I lived there with my parents in the early 90's. I moved away and gradually over the years it became more and more of a student area. Students moved in next door to my parents and, I'm afraid, were invariably noisy, messy and inconsiderate. The landlord, of course, also did little to no maintenance on the property. My parents moved away as did many of their friends. Students have to live somewhere, of course. I think the University now has much stricter rules on anti-social behaviour by it's students in their housing, whether student accommodation or private landlord. You can get kicked out of uni for it. Whether that's had any impact I have no idea. -

Echo the thoughts of others. Very interesting listen. Highly articulate and intelligent bloke. Could do with donating a few of those shirts to charity though, absolutely obscene level of clobber to be storing ๐ Also really liked the fact he wasn't willing to just slate/write off those fans who aren't invested in the Enzo project. Respect other people's opinions and, if you think they are wrong and you are right, invest some time trying to persuade them of that. -
Can see it now Praet leaves, Sensi refuses to sign an extension with Inter and terminates his contract by mutual agreement saving them a few bob on his wages. Sensi immediately signs on a free for LCFC. Rudkin is given the freedom of the city and becomes an instant FT hero.

Sure this has been covered before but we can still sign free agents outside the window, is that right?

110% fact minimum.

I haven't been awarded jack shizzle. I thought Mark might give it to me for sheer effrontery.

And last gasp clearance in the first half where his starting position was superb.
