A third of the season gone - your thoughts?
SafewayFox replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Pretty sure we all predicted a much slower start (points wise) but when fairly analysing our performances there are very minimal areas that I’d love to see improved. Excitingly/scarily (based on recent transfer windows), the next two transfer windows for me are huge to improve a few areas across the pitch. CB (with a bit of pace), a creative 8 are on top of my wish list. -
Hamza has definitely matured a bit on the pitch, improved his first touch/awareness a tad too but should only ever really be a squad player. His pace is a huge positive in an other wise very slow back line - JJ’s def lost at least a yard or two since his injuries though.
-
JJ should have been nowhere near it. Surely Winks would have been a better shout?
-
I feel bad saying it but Albrighton has shown absolutely nothing in his cameos this season. He isn’t going to change an outcome positively in 2023.
-
Top post always. I also don’t think Enzo will ever “go two up too” very often but why didn’t KDH/CC get closer to their wide players hardly at all? When we actually looked decent was when we played quick 1,2’s with the wingers being direct at their FB’s. Casadei was well off it but KDH had a very poor game IMO.
-
Ok, so I didn’t dream that people were saying how 5hit Hamza was in the last match thread? I am all up for saying Enzo got it wrong tactically and a more mobile Hamza might have been a better option as only KDH out of Vardy, KDH and CC seemed to have the mobility to press tonight. But posts about Hamza starting as a 8 ahead of CC on a regular basis against a side who wouldn’t press us in the same manner like Leeds did is definitely knee jerk.
-
He was one of many players who underperformed tonight. Not sure why KDH seems to be getting away with doing his best to play that of a ghost tonight. CC is clearly not what we all hoped for in the summer but some of the calls of Hamza starting ahead of him are knee jerk IMO.
-
Exactly this. Breaking records, beating QPR 6-0 etc has made us sound like entitled fans which we’re not normally. A bad day at the office as would say most players put in 5/10 performances tonight bar Ricky P (maybe Winks) but the lack of composure in the final 3rd was a worry. Farke realised quickly our threat was from out wide so doubled up on them and Abdul floating a pointless cross for the 10th time starting to wind me up (I’m a big fan of his). Hopefully the players use this as motivation to kick on. A HUGE game against Boro now.
-
No shot on target is my biggest frustration with tonight. Vardy, CC, KDH and Kelechi since has been on have been so weak and that’s been the spine of our attack so guess that plays a big part. Enzo needs to learn from this.
-
As they’re doubling up on Abdul and Stephy….Enzo NEEDS to get KDH/Hamza super close to take advantage of the space forfeited. Come on Enzo!!!
-
KDH has been as much as a passenger that Casadei has 👀
-
He won’t be on silly wages surely? If he does indeed have a horrible attitude, surely we won’t be forced to hold onto him like we had others as no one else could afford their wages??
-
I won’t lie, the thought of Coady as a wide CB scares me BUT with Enzo unlike the happy clapping dwarf, I actually trust our manager.
-
Not disputing that Youri should have been dropped and under Rodgers (who I dislike as much as everyone) appeared to find him undroppable. I still think the wrong question is being asked if Soumare is the answer.
-
I’m sure that there was a HUGE difference in Youri being unfit/potentially over weight and running but Soumare would let players walk past him due to a lack of tactical nous. Two different issues.
-
Can you genuinely say that other CM’s in two years continuously let runners ghost past them as regularly as Bouba though? Mentally he was oblivious on the pitch and seen more tactical awareness from CM’s at Sunday league level.
-
History seems to be extremely kind to Soumare on here. He was a CM who doesn’t do a lot of things that influence a game. As others have stated (some even before he joined) not sure what the recruitment team were thinking other than Newcastle and a few others looked at him but ultimately didn’t proceed with his signing any further. He was never going to replace Ndidi or Youri at the time, so confident we can add him to the long list of reasons why our avoidable demise happened. No hard feelings but bye bye Bouba.
-
I’m not deliberately being THAT guy but could argue that his lack of minutes was due to his overall contribution. I seem to recall he started a run of games too, so not sure that anyone could say he didn’t actually have an opportunity to kick on. Yes, Rodgers is/was an absolute weapon but I still think Daka doesn’t fit the mould of a PL striker in 2023.
-
Sorry but couldn’t disagree more. I think we all love Enzo and what he has brought to the table in a coaching/tactical, even passionate figure on the sidelines BUT he has shown to have faith in HIS system which is based on high 8’s/wingers supporting a lone striker who drops deep to influence play. Daka has not shown an ability to offer any of that and Enzo surely was asked about him going out on loan and that could have easily gone through, if replayed the last transfer window it very likely would have too. Move Daka on and admit he’s not for us, not saying he’s an awful player just a very tactically limited one IMO.
-
Fatawu is 19 and learning, I can see the comments about his numbers improving but as I said the other day, name a 19 year old winger from any league that isn’t inconsistent? We have a proper talent on our hands who knows how to track back whilst being an explosive winger - enjoy seeing the lad develop and most likely be sold for big money within 2/3 years if he kicks on like he should do.
-
Have any of our subs touched the ball yet?
-
What did Jannik do to get booked there?
-
The second one, he actually did very well to get a shot away….horrible ball to deal with.
-
Exactly this.
-
JJ is growing into the game….could do with JJ hitting loftier heights.
