  1. That's what I thought. So what this shows us is that Wolves are disproportionately favoured by referees meaning VAR has to get involved to sort out the bias.
  2. What does that even mean?
  3. But as they all went back down that's not a good barometer When did Brentford and Forest manage it?
  4. Because Sky are all about turning everything into a fxxking panto now to generate clicks.
  5. I like the positivity.
  6. The nudge (isn't it Sa nudging Silva?) happens before the header though, so it's irrelevant to any offside call.
  7. Yeah, the pundits and commentary are focusing on the wrong thing. He's only in an offside position when Stones heads it, at which time he's not interfering with Sa (ooh-er missus!). What he does before that point is irrelevant because he's on.
  8. He's nowhere close to being in line of sight. But y'know, Harvey Barnes v Brighton...
  9. 1 a piece now. Nice.
  10. Wolves lead Man City. Bugger.
  11. Battling hyperbole with hyperbole. Bravo.
  12. All wingers are inconsistent, even the very best. It's the nature of the position.
  13. I agree that is true in some cases definitely. It's true of opinions on players too regardless of performance. Some people want things to back up their opinions rather than have to change their opinion.
  14. This sort of comment is no better than those that give no credit. Absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Criticism is not about wanting him to fail. Have you ever had a review in your job or been critiqued in your line of work? Do you think that's because your employer wants you to fail? The problem is that there are three parties here. There are those that will never give credit no matter what happens, and there are those that are never critical no matter what happens. And with both he can either do no right or do no wrong. There's an excuse for any outcome that either is or isn't his fault whichever side of the fence you're on. Neither are objective. And then there's the third party who are open to changing their opinions based on what they see and are open to praising and detracting in equal measure, and do so accordingly. And if you're one of these people you'll get the other two accusing you of constantly changing your mind as if in some bizarre way, that's a bad thing. I'm not saying which camp you're in, you'll know yourself, but the idea that anyone who is critical of Cooper wants him to fail, whilst probably true in some cases, is ridiculous to me.
  15. Somebody struck out!
  16. Well he wasn't for sale... In terms of reach, we could hope for a second season on loan!
  17. 27 points would have kept you up last season. A record low. 35 should be comfy though.
  18. He doesn't go to any of the big boys for €30mill.
  19. I don't think Saints fans can cry too much. The pull on Vardy was with a ball bouncing on the line, Vardy closest to it and nothing stopping him poking it over other than being pulled back. Ayews pull on Onuachu was plain to see, but Onuachu wasn't in possession, didn't go down, it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity, he could arguably have contested Mads for it. That's all. Fofana made a much more blatant pullback on Summerville a few weeks back and that went to VAR and they didn't give it. SO if they aren't giving this: 89939687-13876223-Wesley_Fofana_right_-m-38_1726927542577.avif 89940465-13876223-image-a-37_1726927407353.avif Then they definitely aren't giving that yesterday.
  20. You'd just elbowed him in the bollocks mate.
  21. So we had a summer where we were linked to a lot of players and ultimately missed out on a lot of targets. And generally speaking our high profile targets didn't come off. I tend to think it's quite interesting to see the trajectory of players that we have solid links to (not just rumours or fan fancied moves) because while it might be disappointing that you miss out on a player, there's always a bit of a "what if?" when that player goes on to do well elsewhere, and conversely a "bullet dodged" attitude when it goes south for them. However in theory we should hope that they generally turn out good as vindication that our scouting network and transfer team know what they're doing. So I thought I'd make a thread on some of the high profile players we chased but ultimately missed out on, and see what conclusion we can draw. Still early days but... Fotis Ioannidis - Panathinaikos - Prices varied but were mid £20mill+ and seemingly rising, stayed at parent club. This season, 6 league apps, 0 goals, 0 assists, 11 games in all competitions, 1 goal. Adam Hlozek - Hoffenheim - Poached away from us seemingly at the 11th hour for €18mill. This season, 6 league apps, 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 in 2 Europa League. Mateus Soule - Roma - The summer saga, went to Roma from Juve for €25mill, a fee apparently substantially less than we offered. 8 games total, 0 goals, 0 assists. Yaser Asprilla - Girona - This one dragged out too, and it looked like he might cost us somewhere in the early to mid £20m bracket. Went to Girona for €18mill! This season, 8 games, 1 goal, 0 assists. These were probably the biggest targets we were looking to buy this summer, the biggest spends, arguably the biggest profiles. And so far... Well, they look like they would have been an absolute waste of money. Now just because they're not doing well currently or aren't doing well in new clubs/leagues doesn't mean that would have applied if they came here, but what does it tell us about our targets and the methods we're using to select them? When we go big (for us) it doesn't really seem to pan out. Aside from Fofana really. Tielemans was a big outlay but we got a try before you buy in that in the end. Trincao sticks out as a player we were willing to break the bank on and his career path has gone right down the shitter. Anyway, too many words... Anybody got a take on it? Concerns when the wallet comes out? The £20mill* on Ayew looks like good value right now!
  22. What a ridiculous assertion.
  23. It'd be interesting to see if Cooper abandons this idea of high fullbacks and just got him to go Danny Simpson and never venture beyond halfway. To be honest there wasn't much attacking impetus from either fullback today, and hasn't been really outside of Justin getting us back into the Arsenal game. Perhaps just having them both sit and find passes to more capable attacking players and making us more solid might be the way to go. The idea of an overload doesn't really appear to be bearing any fruit and we're definitely got at down our flanks more than anywhere else.
