I think Marti has to start getting some level of consistency in how he wants our fullbacks to play/perform. If we want the RB to invert alongside the midfield then Hamza can do the job adequately when Ricardo isn't available. But I didn't see that really. He's looked more like your regular traditional style fullback but offers nothing in the attack. Similar thing goes for the LB, where in a few preseason games there looked a defined role to get up and support the winger, again that seems to have gone a bit wayward. Inverting under Maresca worked well because we got more out of Ricardo and had 2 8's. But we've got little creative output in the middle of the park so might need more from our fullbacks going forward, and Hamza offers very little in that sense.

And after that Aluko played there preseason and you could even use Hamza if it got that bad. With Souttar on course to start on grass in October, he might be ready to bring into the fold around the turn of the year and we can reassess then when the window reopens. Mbemba is free but seems he wants a gargantuan wage, so I'd rule that out at this stage.
