Exactly, a gamble that almost paid off. I suppose the biggest mistake was spending £40 million on Soumare and Daka when we finished 5th for a 2nd time. In hindsight we should have sold a star that summer like our previous model when Rodgers failed to deliver the champions league football that we needed to sustain the first team budget.

We've already served the ultimate punishment for our PSR infringements by being relegated. The whole of PSR is bollocks, there's no consistency, they make up the punishment as they go along. How can the EPL even be allowed to still govern if they've waited until 2023 to charge Man City for potentially breaking their rules between 2009-2018. If they come after us, we should legally challenge the EPL's compentcy and argue their not fit for purpose because the whole competition is skewed in favour of the big 6.

If you look at the EFL embargo rules we can still offer new contracts to existing players and it also states if we have less than 24 established players we can also offer contracts to new players. An established player is defined as over 21 before 30th June of the new season. Not sure how this holds up in EPL.

Why even support a team with this attitude. Mistakes happen, the club was chasing an impossible dream after the title win and trying to establish themselves as a top six club. IMO it's better to have tried and failed than never have tried at all. The last 10 years have been the best in the clubs history.

Who would you rather went up with us automatically?
trooky replied to Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot's topic in Leicester City Forum
Ipswich automatically and either WBA or Norwich in the playoffs -
We've discussed and psychoanalysed Enzo to death, it's about time this thread was closed.
-
100% spot on, people just chatting shit for the sake of it. It's not going to sink in when they're calling for the managers head because we lost 2 away games in 4 days.
-
Hope he signs for another season to mentor a new young promising striker.
-
75% of this forum will never be happy with Enzo, or any other manager for that matter, regardless of what he achieves.
-
I'm referring to our game against Southampton tonight, not our performance against Boro. We need our best player KDH to have a big game when the pressure is on, 2 goals will do nicely.
-
Summerville stepped up to the plate last night for Leeds with 2 goals and assist, we need the same from KDH tonight.
-
It's all hypothetical, pointless and not helpful. We can judge Enzo at the season end. The target was promotion, not to finish the season unbeaten, or with a records point total or to be promoted in March / April.
-
Vesty played 150+ games in the Bundesliga and 72 games in the PL for Southampton so he's more than championship level. This forum has forgotten how he galvanized the club after relegation. I dispute the fact any manager would get us promoted because Ricky P, Ndidi and a few others wouldn't be at the club in the championship and Winks isn't playing for just anyone. Agree that Enzo should change his tactics and play 2 up when we're chasing a game, but In his defense Daka and Vardy missed so many easy chances against Plymouth and Bristol we would already be promoted and coasting.
-
And neither of these teams or managers built up a 11 point lead over 2nd place either. Was this also despite Enzo? Was Vesty having a good season, or Ricky P and JJ playing full seasons despite Enzo also? The Championship is long and tough, our key players like KDH and Winks are tired.
-
And by the same token he won't do any less than a world class manager in the PL with this squad.
-
Leeds and Southampton both have more experienced managers, equally strong squads with plenty of PL quality players and less out of contract players to select from. Leeds arguably have a stronger squad than us, especially in attack. Both these teams have had long unbeaten runs at various points of the season, but both are stumbling over the same line and both could miss out on automatic promotion. I'm fairly certain their own forums haven't been in a hysterical state of constant meltdown since February totally dismissing the credentials of their respective managers.
-
Can't believe we've 87 pages debating if we should sack a young, promising, inexperienced manager in his first English job when we're top of the championship with 3 games remaining. Let's bring back Dean Smith, Sharkey and John Terry because that worked brilliantly first time.
-
Brilliant player, will only get better in PL. Just hope we can still sign him with PSR rules hanging over us.
-
It ridiculous it takes program notes from Top to gee us up
-
Fatawu is brilliant, he can beat a man so easily and has created many chances this season. He's only going to get better in the PL. Just hope with all this PSR chaos we still sign him.
-
Agree, Coady has no pace but Ndidi just stood and watched the player before he passed. I think he was signed to start alongside Faes but Vesty's form has made him undropable. Fair play to Vesty but if we played Coady and Vesty together we would be destroyed because of their lack of pace.
-
Don't care about performance, tactics, it's simply a must win game. Come on the foxes🦊
-
He has a point, Vardy is as guilty as Daka in this clip, but I would start Vardy Saturday.
-
So of these misses are criminal.
-
We're still paying the price for the Rodgers era and overspending on wages etc... IMO It's going to take a decade to recover from those mistakes so I don't see anyone new queuing up to take over the club in the short term.
