Taxes have gone up to pay for their welfare increases, and to give Reeves headroom against her own fiscal rules. Meanwhile they have broken their promise not to increase taxes on working people.

I think Labour just put though close to 30Bn of tax rises to increase welfare spending and placate the bond markets, nothing all to help working people. Nothing to support those who will care for themselves in their retirement, nothing to create jobs, nothing to attract business to the UK. Its all just meh. Waste of an election win, waste of the last chance seemingly to avoid a Reform government. Those countries provide really excellent public services. Ours are in the main shit. I am zero confidence increasing taxes to those levels would overcome that.

Tax is at 37% of GDP. It is completely ridiculous. The government has lost control of spending, particularly in Welfare. Labour had the chance to make reforms, but they lost to their own backbenchers and will reap the consequences.

They changed the rules after our last legal win so that the EFL and Prem can each mete our the punishment for PSR breaches in the other league. So the EL decide on the punishment, and the EFL can dock us points this season.

Some great positive stories in there. I sometimes wonder whether with looking at specific geographies we are missing the point re: the movement of species in reaction to changing environments. I.e. we see populations moving to areas which suit them, and can we learn from that and support or promote future populations in new areas. Particularly where populations are too small to manage the step themselves.

He's been unlucky with injuries, but still one of the best players we have produced. Mind you when his goal was disallowed in the FA Cup final I was absolutely delighted

If everyone was using steel scaffolding and some green entrepreneur invented Bamboo scaffolding everyone would be shouting its benefits from the rooftops. I think the mainland Chinese ban on use over 6 storeys is pretty sensible though.

I really wish Rachel Reeves would stop complaining about misogyny and start demonstrating she has what it takes to be a strong chancellor.

I can think of several matters in which I agree with Donald Trump, its just way fewer than just about anyone alive. He is certainly of his time and place. It would be good if he stayed there instead of trying to bring those ideas to the now!

I don't think its importance can be overstated in the short term. Reform are not going to advance anything good, they must be defeated.

In small town rural areas there have always been xenophobic types. They don't like people from London down their either. I think we should be careful not to think this is the issue everywhere - in some parts of the country there are genuine scale and integration issues, and they have been told for years that they are racist or xenophobic to talk about the problems, mostly by poeple who don't see them or their problems. This is how Reform got where they are, and if we ignore it, they will win the next election.

How depressing. I love how the demography changes as you move around. Here in Western Australia there are relatively few black African people, but I do know they are concentrated in a few suburbs. Its very noticeable to me as I used to work in central London and commute through Croydon. There are however lots of Chinese and SEA nationalities, which I see less of for example when I in Finland.

Without restructuring railways, this is essentially paying for the inevitable increase in rail costs with general taxation instead of commuters paying themselves. They would be better off forcing rail companies to put in place flex season tickets - i.e. you pay for 20 tickets not a month and can use them whenever. Must better for the current world of Hybrid working.

Question then, if he majority of the people don't have a job, how will they buy the products & services which AI creates? Assuming AI can do everything which of course it cannot.

I am a senior exec of a business which is many times larger and more complex than Leicester City Football club, and deal with CEOs and the like on a daily basis, so I suspect I have some more insight into senior management that most on here who are getting irate about this appointment.
