I'm not sure there are many features we would want to copy from NFL. Clubs > Franchises, promotion and relegation > closed shop. Open competition > geographic exclusivity, Players making the money > owners keeping the money, through salary caps. I would certainly rip up PSR and replace it with loan limits and bank guarantees for funding. Can't think of much else.

I agree Jenrick's statement was racist. His move from Cameroon to the right has been quite startling. I think though when we then start to generalise, saying that people should be blind to the changing population of the UK, and either ignore the impact they see, or their feelings of concern, then we are at risk of ostracising them, instead of supporting and educating, ensuring services are not impacted, that culture has room to co-exist. And ignoring those things got us where we are today.

Yep lots of Italians in Perth, this will be very popular - sold out pre season games every year for Italian clubs. If you are going to play a game somewhere else, might as well do it where your fans are. Also helps that the current WA Premier Roger Cook is a big sports fan, and happily subsidises sports (and to be fair also music) events to come to Perth. NFL has always been more about TV to be honest, 95% of fans are not in the stadium. As you say this is also the reality at the top levels of football nowadays.

More of a problem is the fact there is no money in the company. Fortunately the courts can and no doubt will look beyond the corporate veil to determine the beneficiaries, and act to recover funds from them.

Feels like Starmer has a lot of the attributes to be an excellent MP, just not enough of them to be an excellent PM. He is clearly smart, has some good ideas, but lacks TV Charisma to sell them (it's quite different to personal Charisma), the conviction to stick to them, and the political savvy to realise what will fly and what won't. Farage on the other hand has a few good ideas, many terrible ones, but seems to know instinctively which ones fly, comes across far better on TV (but probably worse in Person), and also has the help of some nasty algorithms which appear to show people the only the bits they agree with.

Day to day illegal migration is of course not the problem. The problem is the defacto open borders experiment of the last 25 years which no one voted for, no government ever admitted, and only the better off really benefitted from.

I would note as a company director in Australia I already have such an ID, which is linked to companies, tax authorities, numerous govt institutions, along with a personal gov digital id which links my tax number, Medicare, health insurance etc. and I have no current concerns.

It’s not that they aren’t possible already, more that if you are required to utilise this digital id for more than essential government services it could be abused by grouping information which data analytics might use to discriminate against and individual. For example for credit assessment, criminal Profiling or immigration assessment.

I think we just need to resist using that ID for non-government activities so it doesn't morph into something worse.
