I think the point is, if you announce someone, get the approval of Trump and align his official accreditation as Starmer did, then chase daily for the approvals, you created an impossible situation where you effectively approved them and the sign off of Robbins was assumed. Robbins didn't have any choice imo.

Firstly everyone out of contract leaves. No new deals however cheap. Everyone else is for sale. We need to get a manager sorted in the next few weeks. They then need to sit down with the DoF and agree who they actually want in the squad. Those they don't want or cannot afford to keep train apart and are told to find another club either perm or loan. They must be nowhere near the squad in the meantime. The DoF then has a list of gaps, a budget for wages and goes out to try and fill those gaps. Attituude is more important than skill at this point. Any gaps at the end of the summer window are filled with youth. We accept we may not get promoted next season.

Agreed. It is perfectly possible to enjoy sport without being a fan too. I am going to see the Fremantle dockers play AFL this weekend, and I would like them to win, but do I actually care? Not really. I will enjoy myself though in the same way I will watch a unconnected world cup game and enjoy it. Sometimes more than the club you are a fan of... A lot of AFL fans in Perth are like this I think, one guy last time - from the UK and there with his kids - told me how much they enjoy it and that they would never have taken the kids to see the football back home, with the swearing the angry drunk people etc.

He may be. I don't think he is a bad person, but he is weak and unable to either explain what he wants to achieve, or to control his party or the narrative. This means regardless of his good intentions he is a failing prime minister. We can only hope Labour can find a replacement to do some good before we end up with god knows what at the next GE.
