Its sweet you think the left want to see balance. If we learnt anything from the gender nonsense in the past few years it's that the left wants to scream down anything they don't agree with even lounder than the right. That said the right clearly have quite a lot of influence on the BBC too - Jon Sopel on the newsagents noting the internal fear in news was of pissing off the right - and they have certainly over exposed Farage and his ilk and various parties over the years in the aim of balance. No doubt the right-wing print media want to see the BBC at least severely curtailed, as they well might, as the BBC is a direct and powerful competitor. This muddies the water somewhat, as they of course influence a lot of people. Bravery has been lacking in leadership I think, in terms of backing good journalism which reaches conclusions - like Trump is lying about the 2020 election, like the Tavistock GIDS was a disgrace and so on, without fear or favour. Panorama and Newsnight used to be good at this stuff.

There is certainly a dominant activism in the younger likely to work at the BBC demographic.

Not an acceptable chant, and actually I agree with the statement (and the club have a duty of care to their employees, even senior ones) - I seriously doubt anyone at the club goes to work to do a bad job. Or that they are not trying. They are doing their best; it's just their best is not enough for where we find ourselves, and is at least part of the reason we got here. It's not Rudkin's fault he is not the man to fix things and turn the club around - it is up to the CEO/Chairman to see that and take action.

I just don't buy that it was all a result of a master plan which failed just at the last moment as in fact no one was knew what they were doing once they got inside. It was a result of lots of different pumped-up (partly by Trump himself, but also in their online echo chambers) groups of nutters with different agendas who went to protest and make some noise who by some remarkable lack of planning found themselves successful in gaining entry to the Capitol. A massive bunch of arseholes who deserved their jail time no doubt. Of course some of them were armed, this is the US we are talking about. As far as I know no one started shooting or blowing anyone up.

The good fight the BBC has to fight is for truth and good journalism. Not for a political view or outcome. Anyhow, Trump will be in an institution in a few years with any luck.

Yes agreed. I worry a lot about the kids with no idea what reality looks like. Some of us will happily pay for real things, news, insights, art, music, but the kids don't know what it is.

I hold the BBC to a high standard, because it is THE standard, which makes this very disappointing. They are not perfect but they are much much better that this shit. Trump is a nightmare, but I seriously doubt he expected - when he wittered on for what seemed like hours - that his followers would do what they did, that the police would be so useless, or that it would result in the actual storming of the capital building. Does he bear some responsibility? Yes. Was Democracy seriously at risk? Not then. Most of them got inside took photos and prayed.

This is an interesting point, and why as a finance exec I have turned down the chance to work in health and aged care several times, not wanting to be in the position where the balance to find was profit vs care. In commercial sector we strive to find a position where the value of our products and services is shared between us as the supplier and the customer business as the end user. Where the end user is a patient, that balance is harder to find. Some would argue that the best care should be provided always, but of course that is not possible for all but the wealthiest private payers. Your comment about size is interesting too - I suspect the benefits of scale which being the NHS should give you are in fact not achieved - in spending power etc, which the disbenefits - complexity, slow decision making, poor outcomes due to lack of accountability - are endemic. Personally I would split it into care giving and commercial services. Both bodies public, but one nationwide focussed on providing the infrastructure - facilities, support services etc, and the other localised focussed on health outcomes containing all the medical professionals and support.

Yes, no one is impacted at all by this issue, there is no suggestion she is a bad landlord - this is a scheme in place to stop bad landlord letting shitty accommodation. Even if the rental agency comes up with evidence they told her - in which case they should have asked to sigh the license - she had just been appointed chancellor and frankly had more important things to worry about.
