James Justin (signed for Leeds, official. 10m.)

We agree in general. My issue is that it's too little too late. We're relegated (again), charged with PSR breaches (again) and the talent we have left in the squad is reduced to Fatawu, Monga and a few other Academy prospects. I don't trust any other player in our squad to currently or potentially be good enough for the PL. Even if we were to miraculously make a push for promotion and go up, I Imagine we'll have to basically breach PSR again to have any chance of surviving. So while I commend our sales (I mean, they're OK in the context of today's market, no more), I'd rather we got rid of Reid, Ayew, Daka, Winks, Skipp, Soumaré, Faes, Vestergaard and maybe Kristiansen who are all still here. Glad Coady was sold though. With competent management (like we saw under Enzo), I don't think Justin is nearly as bad as some make out and would have been a better option than Thomas or Hamza imo. -

But did we actually try to sell him? Can't blame the player for not extending his contract. If anything, he's probably been completely up front and transparent about his intentions all along. We absolutely could do something, if he was resisting a move - don't play him and see how that hurts his changes with the Belgium squad. But we didn't play hardball which to me suggests he wasn't a bad egg. -

Yea, and that's 7 millions a few seasons ago from a lower league club. He's been part of a top 5 PL team, played in Europe, been on the fringes of the England squad and we can recoup marginally more than we paid. I won't say no to 8 million in our situation, but I wonder what his value was 2-3 years ago. -
Gratz on the first win of the season!

Doesn't make up for Iversen, Tielemans, Iheanacho, Praet, Söyüncü, Amartey and Perez all leaving on frees in recent seasons. Or the subpar fees received for Barnes, Maddison or even Ndidi and Hermansen. That's without touching on the abysmal signings we've made the last few seasons as well. -
Good point, but notice how Ayew came alive against Wednesday when Daka came on. He went on an unlikely run on the right, going past players to set up Daka's header. He's not the fastest, but he's not as slow as one would think.
-
Would be something if he became a LCFC manager one day.
-
He's just saying that Fofana and Badiashile shouldn't play in the middle of a three, i.e. that he wants cover for Colwill. Pretty much the same sort of criticism he gave Kristiansen re his role here.
-
Jacob Ramsey going for £40m is a joke. That we sell Barnes and Madison for around the same as a guy who scores about 1 in 10 and has done f all at PL level, is blasphemous.

Who do you like/rate out of established players

Nah, it's really not that bad. The squad is in Stark contrast to the one 5-10 years ago, but we've been far, far worse. The dirge years in the mid 00s were something else entirely. About being dislikeable, that's very subjective. Actually think a lot of the players come across as likeable off the pitch. I.e. Daka seems a genuinely humble and nice fella and he does try. Back in the days of Tricky Trev, he would've been a cult hero. -
His end product is no worse than Mav or McAteer at the moment.

Cruel for Sheff Wed...
-
So that'd be everyone but Monga and Fatawu then.
-
Is the game streamed/shown abroad or just SkySports+?
-
The clause doesn't prevent clubs from offering less than the clause amount. If we were willing to sell for less than the clause, then the clause expiring means nothing.
-
A scrappy 2-1 comeback win to start the season, exactly like last time. I'll take that - bank the points and the confidence from recovering the game. Tougher game than most expected.
-
Wasn't able to watch much of the first half, but was he really that bad? Felt Soumare was easily worse, either when slowing things down/going backwards, getting in the way of teammates, not showing for the ball. I noticed Skipp made a good run into the box near the end of the half and Fatawu could've played him in, but he chose to go alone and lose the ball.

Bit mean not to mention Faes as well...
-
Brilliant by Monga. Scary how easy he makes it look. That deserved to be an assist, if only Ayew was sharper in his finishing.
-
Turkish lira maybe...
-
He had to generate power on the header too. Got no complaints about the header.
-
Awesome run by Ayew, good header by Daka, fantastic save by their keeper.
-
Ayew just scored from a direct corner, what more can you ask for?
-
not going to pretend I'm not sad about it. I guess it was necessary and we do have competent backup.

Nathan Delfouneso Tom Kennedy Michael Lamey Tony Warner David Stockdale Johnny Hayes David Bell Rufus Brevett Andy Welsh ... If these names had popped up in a quiz, I probably would not have remembered them playing for us. Those Levein years and subsequent seasons were truly poor.
