Premier League Thread 2023/2024
The Year Of The Fox replied to Nalis's topic in General Football and Sport
That was my first thought too. Although they’ve won everything under Klipperty they haven’t got a foothold on football in the same way United had when SAF left. Liverpool could fade away as quickly as they came into their peak. (That would be a crying shame 😂😂😂) -
Fair play to you. It’s not my idea of football and never will be. It’s more like watching a life size chess match

Let’s be honest, it’s so very very boring

Surely you might be able to book your own Madrid tickets, then book the rest yourself too? Cuts out the middlemen -
PET HATES FROM COMMENTATORS/PUNDITS
The Year Of The Fox replied to OnlyOneCity's topic in General Football and Sport
Ridiculous aren’t they Add to that the ‘number 8 role’ Which is slowly developing into using it for anywhere on the pitch ‘number 3/5/7’ An absolute bucketful of nonsense -
No not in the slightest. If the push on women’s football wasn’t so high, then women commentators wouldn’t be around in the men’s game. My issue isn’t the women commentators, it’s the fact that they’re shoe horned into the men’s game in the push to raise the women’s game profile. I honestly don’t know why it needs to happen. Can’t the growth of the women’s game be organic? If it can’t be organic then perhaps it’s not as popular as it otherwise would be
-
I’m not defending Barton. I’m just saying regards women in the men’s game that he’s absolutely spot on
-
Seems to me these days that if you don’t follow the same train of thought as the supposed populist opinion then you’re a racist, sexist, bigot, Neanderthal- whichever slur people want to throw at you. Using those slurs because someone is of a different opinion to you doesn’t undermine the person with that opinion. It undermines the person throwing around those slurs, and highlights their inability to accept other viewpoints. Who are the Neanderthals again?

Barton is for the most part 100% correct The two sports are completely different. You wouldn’t want me analysing Rory McIlroy’s golf swing on his 16th tee shot slice at The Masters. Why? Because I’m crap at golf. Unfortunately Joey Barton doesn’t have a reputation to tarnish. There will be many many more closet fans of his who are pundits though. This whole thing reminds me of Brexit. Celebrities coming out in support of ‘Remain’ after the result- not because they necessarily believed it, but because it was the popular way to publicly be- anyone who’d come out and say they’d voted Leave would have their reputation tarnished. Not a good PR move. It’s exactly the same here.

Because my house isn’t big enough with her 2 kids thanks 👍🏻
-
Thats our hope too. I’m moving into the Mrs council house and renting mine out. Her rent is over 50% cheaper than my mortgage. Let the rates tumble and buy somewhere together. The only caveat to your scenario is that the house prices will rise again
-
Mine went up £280 PM when my deal expired in October, but risked a tracker mortgage. Looks to have paid off thankfully
