  1. He's not that bad with his feet - i mean, it's not his strength but there are many top flight keepers who aren't great with their feet - i guess we've been spoilt having mads and kasper for so long.
  2. I turned up on this list, and then i came back... Now i feel like there're a lot of people on here who wish i'd stayed away. Ha Ha.
  3. It's really not as simple of assuming your first statement - from what i've read it's more a case of a) cooper needing to see them first and b) the loan clubs not having the money to afford buying (why do you think they were only loaned last season?) Soumare played over 2000 minutes in la liga - who else in our squad had that many top flight minutes? why would we not want him back? My glasses aren't blue tinted, just clear - allowing me to be objective about the capabilities of these players. Soumare and thomas had the misfortune of playing their PL games in shitty relegated teams - who knows what might happen in our current squad. Just because they struggled last time round (as did, let's not forget, all of the other players in our current squad who were involved in that relegation season), doesn't mean they can't play completely differently this time around.
  4. They ended up with a less fancy sign... But originally, there was no sign there- just the tobacconists name...
  5. 100% - i'm glad they changed the scheduling so we get to play more teams, but it still feels like we play the dodgers and every other series. It's so tight, any of those three chasing LA could peak at the right moment and ger a WC spot - mind you, last night we blew a 3-0 lead giving up 7 runs in the last three innings to the bloody rockies!
  6. per Jordan Blackwell: maybe 4-1-4-1 - with ndidi is something we might see, then?
  7. Our fans seem only too ready to turn 'on their own' - Thomas seems the latest to be singled out for widescale criticism; hamza has had more than his fair share; christ, even KDH was starting to get shit from fans last year.
  8. They've wasted a number of brown field sites by allowing developers to build shitty little houses, and by restricting heights in the city. You could fit 470 homes in 3 or 4 moderately sized towers
  9. They have tried to introduce a padded cap typle helmet for pitchers in baseball, i don't think anyone uses them - they were nasty looking things https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pitcher-head-protection-coming-in-spring-c164382304
  10. I suspect long term, t hen, that'll they'll end up with some kind of hybrid, or a design with some kind of space age material. You have to ask - if the normal helmet needs this much extra padding, then it can't really be doing much in the first place?
  11. Giants fan, and another year of wild inconsistency for us so far - that said, so many injuries they might end up finishing healthy and a bit of a dark horse, as it's the most talented squad i've sen them have since the last WS win.
  12. But it didn't play like that - ndidi was never a pivot - play would go through the two centre mids (youri/madders) for example. without the ball, ndidi would protect in the hole, with the ball, he'd drop into a back three with the CB's allowing the full backs to push into a midfield 4, and the two wingers to push into a front three. Unless i'm much mistaken, that was what we played the first two years under rodgers - where it went wrong was when he wanted to shoe horn kdh into the middle and started playing with youri and ndidi sitting deep .
  13. Fair enough, i wasn't paying much attention to away kits back then, i just remember the loros one, because it was one i actually bought - i thought it was the first time they'd gone retro with it.
  14. That design was the 125th anniversary shirt with a Loros sponsor for the mens' 1st team
  15. I've actually been thinking about the possibilities of playing with a back four - mainly based on the fact that ndidi, at his best, operated in a 4-1-4-1 system, where he'd drop back into a back three when the full backs pushed forward into a 3-4-3. It would give us more flexibility between defence and attack without having to play silly buggers with inverted FBs.
  16. Not sure how much of this is your own interpretation of ability, or based on these players being used poorly by rodgers. But Thomas, had some really good spells (i'm not sure why he's ended up with such a bad rep), ditto soumare, even though he was mainly played out of position; and daka had very good goals/to minutes ratios in the PL and europe, but again wasn't really given a fair crack. given there's a real chance we'll be palying far more counter attacking football this year, he might finally fulfil his potential As for 'too many centre halfs' - it's an area where historically we've had a lot of injury worries, so maybe it doesn't hurt to have a good collection all of a similar standard, to allow some rotation?
  17. Vestergaard only played 564 minutes for us in the PL, but he had 3 seasons with southampton that i suspect were well received by the locals.
  18. Would imagine Nelson is the most likely candidate to be loaned out, given his age, experience and quality - and that we're overstocked at CB.
  19. Other than OHL, have any of our academy players ever been loaned out in europe? There're lots of good teams out there beyond the EFL.
  20. "I'm sorry, my English is, as you say, inelegant."
  21. I suspect we'll be doing a lot of defending - it's also worth remembering that one of the reasons for our decline was having all our CBs injured and having to use n'didi and justin and anybody else as stand-ins That said, Nelson seems a good bet to get a loan move.
  22. If cooper likes the look of kristansen, i suspect they'll be BFF. Kristiansen is coming off the back of a good season and will be happy to play in the PL again and what else does cooper have? - thomas who failed in the PL last year and Justin who didn't exactly set the championship alight
  23. bored and pedantic but 'or' not 'ro' and Iestyn not Lestyn ...you're welcome
  24. We don't know that at all. A lot of assumptions about Cooper seem to be based on what he did at forest - but the team he has here is nothing like the one he had at forest, so there's no reason why he'll feel he has to just play with a low block. The feeling i get is that he'll play differently against different teams (as opposed to last season where we played more or less the same every week, even when perhaps we shouldn't have). There are a lot of unknowns with our current situation, but for me the three main questions are: - who comes in as an attacking playmaker - how will untested players like mavididi and fatawu adjust to the PL - how will players who struggled/were frozen out last time round play under a new manager
