Very interesting primary result in New York.. senator Bowman, a Democratic senator who was a very outspoken critic of Israel and their war in Gaza, lost his seat to a pro-Israeli candidate by quite a sizesble majority. This is one reason, I would image that Biden is still having to support Israel. Whether he wants to or not. Failure to do so would probably result in a catastrophic defeat in November. Incidently Bowman was the one who set off a fire alarm in the middle of a vote about possible goverment shutdown.. George Latimer, a pro-Israel centrist, defeated Bowman in a Democratic primary in suburban New York that highlighted the party’s deep divisions over the war in Gaza. With the victory, Latimer has ousted one of the most liberal voices in Congress and one of its most outspoken critics of Israel. Bowman has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, where thousands of Palestinians have died in military strikes. Latimer, who got into the race at the urging of Jewish leaders and had heavy financial backing from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, is a former state legislator who has served as Westchester County executive since 2018.

Finances don’t build a team, talent and hard work does.

No one is asking to throw 500m at a team, just plug some glaring gaps -
someone stupid like Barcelona, allegedly!

it’s pure money grabbing. Bigger sponsorship deals and tv money for ONE game, yet as you say regular season tickets holders will likely miss out..

The United States has a lot of football fans. My local MLS team, for example Charlotte FC , who are a very average team drew a crowd of 69,000 for their opening fixture this season. whilst I’m against the idea of any premier league game being played outside of England, make no mistake , any premier league game involving a top 6 team played in the United states will be a complete sell out. ( pun intended!)

what’s all this about then? The Premier League has warned clubs that selling players to and from each other in order to comply with financial rules could breach regulations about acting in good faith. (Times - subscription required)

and if they did, would they REALLY spend it on Faes?

Scotland at Euro 2024.. -
If he wants a new contract, tell his agent to at least be a little bit more realistic. Like maybe Fulham or Brentford?
-
He’s 21. I don’t think he’s unfit, but he put in a big shift trying to keep up with both of those.
-
He’s had a good tournament so far. Let’s hope any buying club will have the sense to focus on that instead of a single moment… but if you are going to focus on single moments… Didn’t he get an assist at the other end too?
-
Someone definitely needs sacking. But I’m not sure who yet. I’ll get back to you on that.

There’s no better showcase of someone’s talent than a live screened game that’s being shown by every nation in Europe. it will reach far more clubs than having 2-3 scouts at a game..
-
If I’m not mistaken, their option to buy him for the set price has expired, so even if they offered the agreed price, we don’t have to accept it… if he has a good Euros, we either will get more or we will be getting a player back who is on the up..
