  1. Partly because the third placed group teams from the tiers above aren’t dropped in it. Teams not in the last 16 who might have dropped into the Conference include Lille, Fenerbache, Celtic/Rangers, Panathinaikos, Feyenoord, Basel etc. Any English team’s budget is going to dwarf those in the competition now. I know it was the UEFA final but Frieberg haven’t spent as much money in their history as Unai Emery has done himself while at Villa. I’m pretty sure Forest would have won that final if they’d got through too.
  2. I reckon we bowled more than two overs worth of full tosses. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was 15 of them, so about one in every eight legal deliveries. Throw in a dropped catch every four overs…Turner’s excellent innings and 1 for 12 probably made the result more flattering for us than it should have been. The tactic just seemed to be throw all rounders in and hopefully something sticks.
  3. Is there any point in Everton? Literally any? KDH’s home….anything else?
  4. It already has a comedy festival.
  5. There’s a lot I don’t understand - but then I didn’t understand why Tuchel went with Morgan Rogers and that proved inspired. It’s not just about picking the best 26 players. You need people who will be good at changing games coming off the bench who know they won’t start. Having said that, not sure on what planet he thinks Djed Spence is a good idea.
  6. Remember how many penalties Argentina got in the last tournament. Watch something similar happen for Portugal.
  7. When they were fined £200,000 for it, it wasn’t against any specific law. They were fined for not being in the spirit of ‘good faith’. As a result of that case though the EFL brought in a specific law to ban spying. It’s the first time anyone has been charged with it as far as I know.
  8. That drink in the golf club has got to be the most expensive in football history. Going to cost tens, if not hundreds, of millions.
  9. Louis Kimber coming in as a specialist batsman at eight and hitting a near run a ball 66 to help Northants win by two wickets. Edit - Apparently he was a sub.
  10. Shows what confidence does for you too. They got an early win and have not looked back.
  11. So is this onside because it’s not the phase he scores from? It feels more offside than someone of those that get given.
  12. Probably the first time I’ve ever watched a Scottish league game on a dodgy stream. I can only imagine for the Hearts fans this must feel like the Man U game in our title winning season.
  13. To be fair, highest total Essex has posted all season in any innings at home so far is 270 and only one other side got more than that. If we bowl well….
  14. What, and Saints didn’t know or question why the employee hadn’t turned up to work that day or who he’d report back to? Even the EFL aren’t going to buy the ‘rogue employee’ line. Like with Bielsa, they’ll be fined.
  15. There’s an argument we should have moved on sooner to be honest. If he’d not been there in the Prem season it might have forced the club to spend at least some of the £22m on a decent, reliable striker rather than Skipp. We also might have been a more attractive option for any back-up given any striker coming would question how many minutes they’d get having to compete with a club legend for a spot. Instead we had to go down the cheap, Ayew option.
  16. When I saw it I did think ‘we’d get a punishment for that’.
  17. I’ve not seen much of the game, but is the issue so far the bowlers or that none of the batsmen have gone on and got a decent score like two of Sussex have?
  18. To be fair I had a conversation on here last season with someone claiming none of Forest’s team would get in our side. Even the defence!
  19. Alex Smithies would have been a more feminist option than Lehmann.
  20. Been told from someone close to Peterborough that they think he’s coming to us. If he’s got any sense though he’ll wait to see what Championship offers he gets.
  21. Probably the only player this season I’d even describe as Premier League quality. So good and mature you completely forget he’s only 21, even after winning the Young Player of the Season award. Will be interesting to see what happens though. There might be a few question marks over his fitness. Did he have injury problems at Rennes too?
  22. Hopefully looked at what Stone was doing, giving the batters nothing. Notts bowlers a different class unfortunately.
  23. Did we bowl first all the while last year on winning the toss?
  24. Against comparatively much better opposition though.
