Even the historically shite 07/08 Derby side ‘helped’ the promoted trio to 82 cumulative points that season. This year the promoted trio carrying on at the same rate would get a combined 62.1 points. The gap continues to get bigger. People cite that three teams stayed up three years ago but there will be a few outliers and one of those was Forest with the lowest points total to stay up ever.

I think the agreement is that when India host the next couple of world cricket events (Women’s World Cup, though Pakistan are yet to qualify, and Men’s T20 World Cup) Pakistan can play all their games at a neutral venue including any against India. Given there’s precedents of team’s refusing to travel to countries being made to forfeit games in previous ICC competitions it still makes a mockery of it all though.
