We (and anybody) could lose more as The Hundred squads aren’t full yet. Northern Superspunkers (or whatever their name is) only have six official players ahead of their first game on Friday. It’s ludicrous. But then could get more ludicrous…. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/jul/20/cricket-the-hundred-twenty20-format-ecb-name-change -

I mean, did you watch Notts last weekend? Side batting first has won pretty comfortably at every Birmingham home game this season. It wasn’t tonight that was the problem. One of the Derby games or even winning the tied game would have been enough. -

Didn’t believe this was true so had a look. He’s got more wickets in T20 than 50s. His bowling average (10) from three and a bit overs is not far off his batting average in the format (13). Meanwhile, usual two or three down in the power play. -

How many have they got? Radio Leicester saying they’ve put a fair few in. Edit - How many slow bowlers is what I mean? -
To fund it couldn’t we sell all our defenders and have Kante and N’Didi as the ‘sort of’ back two. No-one’s getting through them both.

Southgate steps down as England manager
when_you're_smiling replied to foxfanazer's topic in General Football and Sport
But this is part of the problem. Three of them play the same position. It’s not club football where you go out and buy for a position you’re weaker in. You can try and shoehorn them all in and expect them to perform exactly the same in different roles but think that was part of his problem this time around. There’s a massive difference between managing at club and international level. Some top club managers have been poor international managers (Capello). By the same virtue, some that have been poor at club level (looking at you Southgate) are better at international level. The ability to change the culture around the England men’s team has to be applauded, and he started that by taking a team with Lingaard. Alli, Young and Henderson to the World Cup semi finals. Whoever comes in will almost certainly be better tactically, however if they don’t build on the work he did behind the scenes, they won’t get as far anyway. -

That six from Neesham towards the end - oooshh. That was tense but thoroughly enjoyed it in the end. -

I couldn’t follow the match at all last night. Reading the thread this morning was like a flash back to LCFC match threads last season. -

Ludicrous only three runs behind Worcs were at same stage after that dreadful start and having not hit a boundary for about five overs. If they’d have not conceded 35-odd off the last two overs as well they’d have been right in it.
