The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)

So had two days off 😂 Just done a 5k in 20:24 which I'm fairly pleased about, and that's deliberately holding back a bit with my niggles recovering. Made sure I didn't go quicker than 4 mins per km and 3rd k was mainly up hill too. Think my ambitions by end of this year are still to be sub 19 mins 5k and sub 40 mins 10k. Current PBs being 19:25 and 41:20 respectively. Need to switch to more half marathon training soon though with Pboro half in just over 2 months away -

They finally opened the next block. So small time how we operate it really is -

Thanks for the recommendations, I've gone for these in the yellow type colour. Hoping they become my long run shoe! -

Ridiculous how they release ticket blocks. Just causes a complete rush when the better blocks are open. Again I'm waiting past my priority for a more central block to be open -

One thing after the other with me right now. Was back pain, which I think turned to sciatica as was so painful in the left cheek area or upper leg. That's just about cleared but now shin splints are back again which I thought I'd got rid of. Absolute agony they are and it's really demoralising having to stop 2/3k in more than once. Think I'm going to have to rest for longer from running and do something different like swimming to keep myself active -

Yeah I'm 12.5 according to my gait analysis 😂 because of feet swelling when running I definitely need 13s or 13.5 but they're definitely harder to get hold of. There's a ton of variety of shoes out there but hard to gauge whether they're good for long runs usually, reviews are always a bit shite with that -

Yeah I've done that a while ago mate when I bought the Brooks'. Had a gait analysis done. Online is so much easier for my size though than finding what I want in store usually -

Can anyone recommend some good shoes for longer distances, I'm talking half marathon or marathon distance? For probs no more than £150 Think my Brooks have had it with about 600km on them, and all my other shoes i think are more 5/10k speed run shoes. Brooks Glycerin 22 are the shoes I've previously had -

Just done a run after a few days off with what I think is sciatica. Was back pain now is aches in my left backside cheek 😂 think it's subsided a bit but still there. I simply can't sit around for days doing nothing, it's boring! Done 16k, in an elapsed time of 1:28, had 8 mins stopping total. Getting shin splints again which is annoying me because I thought I'd seen the back of them a month or so ago so have to stop to shake my legs. Did do a couple of sprints late on in the run at interval type pace. Did do one k in 4 mins late on which I'm pleased about considering my condition right now! Next big run for me is the Peterborough half in October. Hoping to get close to 1:30 if training before still goes well -

Surely they'll open the next block with it being all st's tomorrow. Absolutely ridiculous how slow they're doing it -

Same here. Literally keep checking every couple of hours seeing if the next block opens. Is a regular theme for me with how we sell blocks for aways -
We should be winning this now

I can't run atm. Think I've got sciatica. Ran with a bad back last week including a ten miler. But pain has shifted to left buttock or top of leg. Pain dull but then shoots up the back during a run. Think I aggravated it by running last week, although it felt better post run. I'm actually limping a little bit now. Hate having time off. Don't know whether to grit my teeth and give it a go, had three days off running now already and gate the feeling of going backwards 😂 -
Unreal moment from an average player?

Nursing a lower back injury...hate it, really affects me running especially early on. After moving about it hurts less though. Decided not to go for a PB at parkrun yesterday but help my brother close to 23 mins so paced him. Enjoyed it although he was ****ed 🤣 I need to rest really but I get so bored, probably my own worst enemy. Been to London today and got in a 17k run from Kings X to Buck House then along both sides of the river up to Tower Bridge and back to Westminster. FFS the amount of stop start and zig zagging around people was worse than I imagined 🤣 certainly wasn't a quick run! Also hot af 🔥 They had the saucony 10k event there today, definitely would want to do an event in London especially as marathon is impossible to get into! -
O'Neill 🤣 I'd much rather Wilder. Least he has champ promotion experience. O'Neill is a coach imo

Nothing wrong with that time mate. Keep going with it and it will come down even more -
I genuinely think if we don't have a manager in charge by this time next week, in some ways I'd rather just have King announced. Would take him over some of the names mentioned. The longer this goes on the more damage it does to the start of our season. We could literally lose the first month of the season still in transition over playing styles and transfers. Embarrassing how we're run as a club. Rvn was always getting sacked and we don't seem to ever have had any replacement s in mind

Yes there is no option to edit it. Probably because was sent from my watch to Strava. Have edited on the watch but won't update to Strava. Oh well -
Leicester vs Peterborough United - Pre-Season
Heart-Shaped Fox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'd happily go to games watching what we could all know is a long term project with a young team. I think a lot of our academy boys mixed with some good experience (Ricardo, Okoli, Thomas, Justin, Mavdidi, Hamza and a few others) would still get us a decent place in the league. It's not a top quality league at all. I can take it being a bit poor at times or bad results but with the future in mind and watching us build and play with players we can get behind. The pros I've listed above for example like Justin, I'm not saying he's quality and I think he's massively declined as a player but I do think he does care unlike Vest/Soumare for example. Youngsters will also give fans more leeway for time and patience, you expect mistakes and learning curves if the attitude is there. If we're pissing about with a new manager then get someone who can match this philosophy at least, we seem to be stringing it out massively maybe due to costs -

Did the local parkrun this morn. New 5k PB of 19:23! Was aiming for 19:30s so well chuffed. Only annoying this is Strava showing it as 4.95km which is bollocks it won't let me change it. Did the first k in 3:35 and second only shout 10 secs slower. Set off far too fast really. 20 mins was the long term aim, now it's sub 19
