Leicester vs Peterborough United - Pre-Season
Heart-Shaped Fox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'd happily go to games watching what we could all know is a long term project with a young team. I think a lot of our academy boys mixed with some good experience (Ricardo, Okoli, Thomas, Justin, Mavdidi, Hamza and a few others) would still get us a decent place in the league. It's not a top quality league at all. I can take it being a bit poor at times or bad results but with the future in mind and watching us build and play with players we can get behind. The pros I've listed above for example like Justin, I'm not saying he's quality and I think he's massively declined as a player but I do think he does care unlike Vest/Soumare for example. Youngsters will also give fans more leeway for time and patience, you expect mistakes and learning curves if the attitude is there. If we're pissing about with a new manager then get someone who can match this philosophy at least, we seem to be stringing it out massively maybe due to costs -

Did the local parkrun this morn. New 5k PB of 19:23! Was aiming for 19:30s so well chuffed. Only annoying this is Strava showing it as 4.95km which is bollocks it won't let me change it. Did the first k in 3:35 and second only shout 10 secs slower. Set off far too fast really. 20 mins was the long term aim, now it's sub 19 -
Heskey got ridiculed later on in his career unfairly. But he definitely did peak when he was younger, arguably at us and his first couple years at Liverpool. Similar to Rooney but at a lesser extent I suppose, the younger years were his top level. Look at how Heskey could dribble, run, power through defenders, head it. He was quality. Scored some good goals too when you watch some of his finishes for us. Is he arguably the best player we have produced through our academy in the last 30 years?

Thanks mate. I'm really mixed emotions about it. I really wanted the 40 mins mark but I just can't quite do it. I do have to remind myself I'm 34 almost and only started running in October last year and have lost 10/11 kg in that time. (I was never really fat fat just out of shape cardio wise). I couldn't run 4k without stopping back then 🤣 plus it's warm out there! Yeah I won't do that event today there again. I don't like the fact it's open to the public wandering about too and it's too congested with other events going on. I'll stick to the events where they are purely that run only. I have actually emailed a complaint about it (Marshall on his phone), don't expect much back but it has slightly pissed me off 🤣 My original long term aim was sub 20mins 5k. I've cracked that now so next park run I'm going for 19 sub. 40 mins is the real ambition in the ten k now! Oh and Ian Stringer was the bloke on the mix at the event today. He called out a a lcfc fan who had a big tattoo crest (not me 🤣) -

Mixed bag for me this. Held on to the pacer for 5-6km then dropped off again.... fuming about that but just didn't quite have the legs. Finished 17th though and in a time of 41:20. I'm actually annoyed though because I was running on my own at the end and because the finish branches off (there are multiple races on at once) I slightly went wrong. Didn't help that the Marshall was on his ****ing phone not looking. Possibly my fault too but I didn't know the course well. It cost me at least 15 seconds and 2/3 places. In good news I broke 20 mins 5k. (19:54) I think I could do a parkrun 5k in nearer 19 mins than 20 now. Back to intervals all the time for me now. I do like the ten k but will only do an event again at a purely ten k. Not with 5ks and halfs going on. Not a fun course and too congested. -

Ten k event here in Peterborough tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. Current PB is 42:13 back in early May. I really want sub 40 and obviously that would bring sub 20 5k too. Problem is I've over done it and despite two days off unless I feel a lot better tomorrow, I'm not going to be ready for it. Did plan on almost holding the 40min pacers hand all the way 😂 Will see how I feel though. Will be hot too -
Football Manager 24 Editor Database help
Heart-Shaped Fox replied to TiffToff88's topic in Music and Gaming
I used to be good at the FM database about ten years ago but will see if can help. I managed to make an Anglo Scottish cup once, and think the way to do it then was to make that an active competition in England then add the teams somewhere under its format from their respective divisions. Possibly not as simple as that but it was something like that. Did take me a lot of attempting to get it right though -

Didn't or couldn't get up as early as I wanted to do for a half this morning. But still left before 0900. Stopped halfway for 4 mins for drinks and some haribos for energy (I hate gels) and to take a pic of some sheep 😂 Still managed to set my PB shaving off 5 mins and getting 1:40:37. Which I'm pleased about because without that stop I'd have been comfortably inside the 1:30s. Especially pleased because of the temp out there. It's still unbearable! -

Decided to book the ten k in Peterborough next Sunday over the half marathon. Probably because I'm desperate to get close to 40 mins as possible and there are pacers there to follow. Was also worried about the heat with doing a half too, but think I've gone the wrong way now because I'm gonna be running at much higher intensity 😂 and it's impossible to take fluids on at that speed really. Will definitely rest the 2/3 days before it though. Have just been out now and done 5k just to take me over 200km run for June. Did it in just over 22 mins. Don't often run many 5ks now and that was id say only at 75% of my limit so I'm pleased with that in this heat. Long term target is still sub 20 mins 5k but I'm confident I can get that in my next parkrun providing I rest a day or so before unlike last time 😂 Will try and get up at around 6am and do some sort of longer run tomorrow I think. Can't be doing it in this heat 😂 -

It's so tough when it's hot like this. Went out about 1pm today and did intervals running but it's too unbearably hot. Doesn't help I've probably not rested myself either in recent days. Think I'm gonna rest until Sunday now and get up early and do some sort of steady run before the temperature kicks in -
He defo joined the 100 club against Palace in lockdown. Remember their defender slipped over and Barnes (??) passed it to him across the box for a tap in

Those pics are awesome. I went to Filbert Street from the age of about 6 to 10. I don't have a lot of memory of it really. Id do anything to time travel and just go there as an adult. It really is true how you get so nostalgic later in life. -

Just ran my first ever marathon on my own. Had done a couple of 20 milers before and ten days ago did a 36k. Thought **** it let's get it done today. Apart from pics and map on my phone, didn't really stop until about 26k in and they was to buy a drink and eat some jelly sweets 😂 fuming because went to one garage and they had a power cut, cost me ten mins waiting around at least. Official time with stoppages 4 hours 22. Average pace I ran out was 5:31 and moving time was 3 hours 54. Delighted not one of my splits was 6 mins or more Absolutely shattered now though -
Hope we keep him I like him. Had told myself he'd be number one with mads gone and I was happy with that

Doesn't it seem like we're slow organising or at least announcing friendlies every year? Some clubs had them finalised a week ago. One of the many things I miss about NP, always felt he was one of the best in the business at getting us fit and ready for the new season.

Can't decide whether to do the 10k or half marathon event in Peterborough at the end of the month. Would like to get sub 1:40 in the half but the course is a few laps and having done the parkrun there it's definitely tight and and narrow and open to the public usually. Could argue the same for the 10k which starts half hour later. Couple of work mates look likely to do the ten k, so might follow suit. Then I'll be aiming for sub 42 mins. Decisions decisions -

Did my first parkrun this morning. Want to desperately break the 20 mins barrier. Fuming with myself as I got 20:26, my second best time ever. I lightly jogged the 4k to get to the parkrun, but soon knew I wasn't physically capable of a PB, legs ached and shin splints hurt a bit too. Truth is I've put far too much on the legs recently. I should have had a couple of days off but didn't stupidly. Also should have started closer to the front than I did. Racked up a total of 220k for the month, which is good but too much. Absolutely determined I'll get the sub 20 mins on my next one which won't be soon as I'm working Saturday mornings coming up. It's literally my only ambition right now 😂 I know I'm capable just need to stop tiring the body out -
I think that's more because of cost implications. Especially with us and Soton wanting to fit in with psr. I heard his buyout clause is 3-5m, although could be wrong
-
Sheff Wed are a strange one. He's got them the 5th best away performance in the league but 23rd at home. Odd. Home form has really cost them any chance of top six really. But the team and players aren't very good, he's got them well punching above their weight. I wanted him in as my first choice manager.
-
I'll give him credit form being a good penalty keeper. I don't blame him personally at all. The club is to blame. He's on about 50k a week, and has his contract extended. It's not his fault he cost £15m and is on mega money. It's the balloon heads at the club. Probably the worst keeper I've seen though in my recent City memories.

League One & Two - 2024/25 season
Heart-Shaped Fox replied to moore_94's topic in General Football and Sport
There's probably less games played now than in the 90s though? And they produced some of the best playoff final games ever. I'm not sure what has caused it but I wouldn't say it's down to amount of games played necessarily. -

Always had a like for Sunderland. I like the north east people, and won't forget how they clapped us off the pitch on our way to the PL title. Their fans have had to go through some utter shit in the last 8 years too so I'm happy for them. And it's a long away game gone now too 🤣 Think the league is harder with Sheffield U in it. -

Based on all I've seen of the Champ and playoffs....get the managerial appointment right and points deduction depending...we should be top six in this league easily. The standard is poor, there is a major gulf between the top three and rest
