The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)

That's fast mate. My best 15km I did a week ago in 1:09 and I was absolutely ****ed after. I've no idea how I'm ever gonna get close to an hour which is what I'd like long term 😂 -

Did earlier today 23km running the Norfolk coast from Sheringham to Overstrand and back. Done it as part of my half marathon training for Peterborough half in three weeks. **** me it's inclined this run. Total elevation gain according to Strava is 205m 😂 Absolutely done my thighs in. The half marathon elapsed time is 1:47, that's with about 4 mins stopping for the map and for a couple of pics. It's gone down as my third best PB which given the hills I'm reasonably happy with. Only times I went slower than 5 mins per km is because of the hills (5:18 on km 16 with an elevation of 30m 😂) Pb remains 1:40 which was done in and around Peterborough and much flatter. Hoping to get closer to 1:30 than 1:35 in the event next month. Also, shout out to matey with the beard and pushchair a mile or so out of Sheringham. Let him keep the pavement as I went on the road and he put his hand up then said 'nice shirt mate'. Was wearing the Lcfc Grey 2018 away shirt. So if you're on here, hello 👋😂 -

You don't know the rule. He was offside and controlled the ball in our half. The fk gets taken from where it's touched. Been the rule for at least a year if not two -
I'll take the point, move on. What's baffling is why Ricky and Winks aren't playing over Soumare/Skipp. They're wank Cifuentes gets it wrong in that department

Starting to feel recovered from injury now, leg has stopped throbbing after runs. Been twice to a physio which I think has really helped. Just done 10 miles or just over 16k in 1:14:10 which I'm fairly pleased about. If did a half and maintained that I'd be sub 1:40 and closer to 1:35. Windy af out there when I did it too 🤣 pushed at the end and somewhere in the latter part of the run did a 5k in 21:29 which I'm pleased about too considering how much I've toned down the running. -

Don't read too much into it mate. I even go into zone five sometimes. It was warm today down here I imagine the same up there so the temperature also plays apart to heart rate. Honestly I think it's mostly bs heart rate zones 🤣 My Strava prediction time is currently sub 1:32 for a half but I think that's generous and 1:35 is probably my max. 1:35 or below I'll be happy with next month especially with how I've dropped off the distances with injury. You're right about the crowds etc, that adds at least 5%. Good luck with marathon training! I've only ever run two on my own never an event. And they're absolutely a killer on the legs especially late on 🤣 -

Good going though, sub 1:45 isn't easy. I wouldn't worry too much about heart rate, I think it's not always good data wise. 160 is that HR zone 3 or 4 for you? If its three then it's good, if four still nothing to be concerned about. On all my quick runs around 4-430 pace I'm always in Hr4 apparently even if I know I have more in the tank. I'm a month away roughly from the Great Eastern run (also HM). Slowly getting over injury. Wanted to be closer to low 90ish mins for it which I could have done a couple months ago, but I think sub 1:40 is now more realistic at this point -

Who was our worst manager and why?
Heart-Shaped Fox replied to ramboacdc's topic in Leicester City Forum
Rvn. Yes the squad wasn't great and I think he was sold some false promises. But I'm utterly convinced if any of us were in charge we'd have the team scoring at least one goal in 9 home games. Utter dross he was -
Not quite the same. But I remember going to the lunchtime kick off at Watford when we beat them 0-3 with Knockaert scoring (season 2013/14). I was getting back to the car about a mile or so away and this Watford 'fan' parks up gets out and after seeing lots of other fans getting back into their cars, asks what's happened in the game....he thought it was a 3pm kick off 😂 told him he did well to miss it because Watford got battered 😂 Got straight in his car and stormed off. Baffles me to this day that he's gone all week, all morning, in a social media world and not realised it was a lunchtime kick off

A loan is ridiculous. Especially if it's not a mandatory buy clause. He doesn't want to be here, I don't want to see him in our shirt again potentially next season. -

Yeah I only started in October last year, sometimes need to remember how far I've come in that time. Need to manage this injury as I'm still not exactly sure what it is. Do need to start interval training very soon though especially with half marathon coming up in five weeks -

Finishing August with 107km run in the month. Massively down on last three months where I was doing 220-270 each month. That was probably too much and led to my injury. I did one marathon too this month so that's a chunk of my running 😂 First run in a week this morning sticking to around 5k only for the recovery stage I'm at. Previously ten k or more flared my leg up again. Did 5k in 22:07 which is good because I really wasn't pushing, was probably in 4th gear mostly. I'm pleased because I feel I could still do sub 20 and I've been worried my fitness/cardio was going down with not much running recently. Praying my leg doesn't start throbbing again and I'm not off for another week 🤞 -
30 year old... we'll probably bid stupid then give him a 5 year deal Doesn't strengthen us imo

Still stuck injured I am. Just when I think my left lower leg feels ok, any run on it really flares it up. Not ran for a week now, will give a gentle run tomorrow see what I'm fit enough to handle. Sick of it. Had to resort to swimming and cycling recently instead and it's not the same -

Shows the difference at this level with a bit of top quality when it matters. Abdul and a couple of others really could carry us a long way. Dog shit game, boring but who cares. Shame we didn't get the point at Preston but it's still been a good start overall without playing well at all -
Embarrassing for Celtic. The team they have they should be beating a Kazakh team most of us haven't heard of. Brendan Bottler. Absolutely hilarious. Celtic Vs Rangers on Sunday as well

Marti Cifuentes appointed new manager
Heart-Shaped Fox replied to Tuna's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm not totally sold on him either, but I think it's a bit early and unfair to question him tactically. This is the same manager who out tacticked Enzo when they won at our place and spanked Leeds 4-0. Both were impressive wins against superior sides by far on paper. He was about two weeks late into pre season and there's definitely a lot of turbulence with transfers right now. I will judge him in and around October/November after he's had a smoother run of games with knowing the squad he has at his disposal once the window has shut. I do like Robins though and would have taken him previously too. -
Can't believe someone like Braybrooke wouldn't be any better. At least young players get some leeway with fans and care. This bloke just wanders around, looking like he's late 30s. Still can't believe he's 24 only
-
Shows what even a point last week could have done for us. Need to have the mentality to at least get something even if it isn't our day, especially away from home. Stoke and Preston seem to start well most seasons 😂

Thought he was ok today. Ok is hardly pulling trees up. He must love it when Skipp is next to him because that immediately makes him look superior

🎵 Rudkin you're the one 🎵 12m is absolute daylight robbery Nice guy, like his love for the club and he cares. He's a decent player but not a top end Champ player imo. 5m was about his worth in this market. 12m is mint money
