Hurst was 4th/5th choice and never was going to get a chance after unsuccessful loans. We couldn't wait to get rid at the time. Late developer, given a consistent run in a team and full of confidence. You win some and lose some.

Next Seasons Squad - Can we now talk about it?

I think we have a good enough starting 11 to compete in the bottom half of the Prem, it's the depth that worries me. -

Would we need to release players and then resign them after 30 June to fall into the new finacial year? -

If its a league only clause and I hope it is, then you are correct. He has passed 25 appearances if this includes cup cameos -
Yes, the objective at the start of the season was always promotion. Financially we need to be a Prem club and to take our punishment there. The club would not survive a transfer embargo and to lose several key players for another season in the Championship.

Tielemans going through the motions was 10x the player of Soumare is very high praise for an uncommitted player! 😂
-
Can't stand another unchanged team again. Beginning to seriously question Enzo and his lack of subs to change a game.
-
I'm in the minority here, but I did like Soumare (he did have some poor games, which young players do when adjusting to a new country!). It was always going to be difficult playing next to half arsed Tielemans going through the motions.

He is our best progressive passer at the club, the position needs improving along with others, but I highly doubt the club has that much money and we may need to work with what we have in some positions.

Jesus christ, this forum is depressing

Sunderland (A) - Tuesday 5th March - 7.45pm

System might have to be tweaked and we may have to find another way of playing until bodies are back. IMO playing with Yunus is like playing with 10 players! -

I would not have Yunus on the bench, let alone in the starting line-up! -
Daka has improved his game massively. His link up play and ability to drop deep has greatly improved since the start of the year. Usually Daka is a good finisher, but he has missed two great chances against Boro and Leeds - I am sure this will improve. We missed Daka's high press during the run up to Leeds first goal.

I completely agree, but I think it would be unrealistic to focus on too many signings in the summer. Cannon is too inexperienced, yes, but we will never know if he can make that level without giving him the opportunity? I think people are in for a shock when Vardy finally retires, because we are certainly not going to spend big on a ready made Prem striker and have been very fortunate for almost a decade with Vards. Instead we need to work with the potential of Daka and Cannon and hopefully one comes good.

Must Barkley (free if Luton get relegated) McAtee (permanent or loan with obligation depending on our finacial situation) Fatawu A competent six to back up Winks (can Barkley cover that 6 role, which allows us to sign an extra 8?) Two wingers than provide healthy competition and can start games Doyle (no more than 10-15 million) If finances allow Hamer (must have a relegation release clause at Sheff Utd) Upgrade on Hamza, but we have more important positions to strengthen IMO Mads/Jacob/Ward Faes/Souttar/Nelson Vesterguard/Coady Doyle/Justin Ricardo/Hamza Winks/????? Fatawu/??? Barkley/Ndidi Dewsbury-Hall/McAtee Mavididi/???? Daka/Cannon/Vardy/Iheanacho(?)

Wtf is his moustache all about 😅
-
I reckon we'll get both in the summer. We know about the McAtee interest on Deadline Day and Enzo spoke positively about Hamer at the start of the season
-
No thanks. No chance he steps up the the Prem
-
Not for me. Admittedly, I have watched little of him, but he always strikes me as a one trick pony. Loves to come inside and bend one into the bottom corner, but surely Premier League defences will wisen up to this and show him down the outside? Impressive numbers, but as Ric has said, 5 of his goals have come from penalties and I think he is no better than Mavididi (who I also question his potential to step up to the Premier League). Any signings that we make, need to strengthen our current line up and they're able to make the step up. This is why I would rather us wait until the summer, when we are more attractive to players.
-
Unfortunately, all fanbases have them. The Leicester fans rattled on Twitter are the same fans who chant Clougies in a box. Awful behaviour across the board.
-
It's a much different system from Bodgers. I would be tempted to give him another 12 months. Would that tempt him for another crack at the Prem or would he want the security of a longer contract elsewhere?
-
I really do like Sara's numbers at Norwich, but haven't watched him much? Can he make the step up? Signings we make now need to have the next step in mind. No good needing to find replacements for our signings in six months time. I do think we'll be back for McAtee in the summer, when we replace Sheffield United in the Prem. He has looked promising following Wilders arrival.
-
Excellent move this. Some good performances puts him in the shop window in the summer. Ward next please, imagine he will want to leave because of his Euro place.
-
Rather him go elsewhere, than taking minutes from our youngsters. Not keen on developing players for Liverpool's gain

I would use this window to sell as many fringe players as possible (especially the ones not out of contract in the summer). That will mean we have a trimmed squad in the summer, and we're ready to buy players rather than sell to buy, which has been the problem in recent seasons. Plus we'll be in a much stronger position and able to attract better profiles of players in the summer
