Wow, what a pointless punishment. Just been reading up on it and I clearly overestimated the footballing authorities -
S9 still doing the business for me 4/5 years later

I am right in thinking that Maresca would have had no contact with the bench last night right? -
We're allowed to make 5 subs. No reason we can't start with 8 or 9 first choice players and really go for it in the first half. We can then bring on the lesser players around 55-60 minutes and give them a good run out against tiring legs.
-
Hamza is really good at passing backwards and making recovery tackles. He's very poor at making space to receive a pass, being aware of opposition players, dealing with players running at him. The amount of times he hides behind opposition players so he doesn't have to receive the ball is mad.
-
He must have had more back passes than Hamza last night. Ric's right, his movement is very intelligent, but his all around game just isn't good enough. He can definitely make it as a pro, and if someone finds him the right position I could see him scoring a few in league one. He's just not really good enough for what we need consistently. If we can get some coin for him I'd be all over shifting him this week.

Lesson learned for me on this one, at least read up on a player before making a decision about him. My comments when we signed him are embarassing He's probably the first proper footballing bloke we've had at the team since Kasper left. Pearson's teams were so resolute because he filled his squad with players with Winks mentality. Just forgetting his ability on the ball. Having a player that talks to his team mates critiquing/offering advice. He basically holds Hamza's hand whenever he plays. He's the one that will talk to refs/linos. He's got a team mates backs if anything kicks off. Absolute pleasure having this man in the squad and looks like a genuine captain in the making to me. As much as I love KDH's determination, when you compare his behavior on the pitch to Winks, there's an absolute chasm in terms of leadership and how Winks conducts himself compared to KDH. Not a slight on Kiernan, I only mention him as he's someone I've seen as a potential captain, but Winks is absolutely miles ahead of him in what a captain should be.

70 minutes last night we absolutely dominated that game, but without ever really looking like we would score again. We got into a few promising positions but it didn't feel like the team collectively wanted to go and score that 2nd/3rd goal. More like it'd be a happy side-effect of how we were playing. McKenna made subs and then the last 20 we were all of sudden being ran at and were in foot races with their players. Yunus nearly put McAteer in but aside from that, the shape was the same and we didn't look comfortable. Another night we might have held on, but allowed the odds of them scoring to increase by not reacting to McKennas changes. Disappointing end to what was otherwise a controlling performance. Unfortunately we are saying this regularly. Whether or not teams take the chance, we're often ceding our dominance in the closing passages of games and teams are invariably going from having the ball in our box a few times in 60-70 minutes to then having the ball in our box every few minutes for 20-30 minutes. Sometimes we get away with it, sometimes we don't. We should be proactively looking to prevent that situation occurring at all and giving the opposition no sense of hope. Especially with the quality available, these are the characteristics you see of teams that are inferior to the opposition and are desperate to cling on. -
Could do with a win here.Fortunate to come out of the Millwall game with a win. Outplayed by Cov. Now thrown away what looked like would be a good 3 points with a poor 20 minutes. Following that up with a poor performance against these would be concerning.

Naah. For about 70 minutes we were how you described. From around the 70-75 minute mark they were consistently getting into dangerous positions in our third and were in the ascendancy. I messaged my mate on 70 saying we're in control, we don't look like scoring, but Ipswhich dont look like having the ball. Within minutes of sending that they had got into 2 or 3 promising positions. Aside from McAteer being far too slow to Yunus' ball we spent the rest of the game pretty much being bossed. Had we come out with a win at that point it would have been a case of being thankful to have escaped. -

Not too concerned about the rest of this season. Weve got a cheat code squad and will go up. Mentality is very poor though. No killer instinct and we fold under pressure. This is to inferior teams as well. God help us next season against squads that will be regularly better than us. Frustrating but plenty of time for Enzo to learn and address this. Lessons need to be learned and we need to develop a stronger mentality though. -
Poor mentality, we look weak under pressure. Won't have much bearing on this season as our squad is too good not to pick up enough points and see the job through. Next season is a massive concern for me though.

Feel for Mads there. Doesnt see it till its past Faes by which time its basically at him Then gets down and lands on the ball pushing it into the net.
-
Rate this ref, think hes had a really good game
-
We're pretty good at trying to rescue draws from the jaws of victory.
-
Interesting choices. Not what I'd have had in midn given the last 5 minutes
-
Probably need a change to adjust to their changes now. Too many 4 on 4 situations for my liking atm.
-
Haha I mean since the Fatawu incident! Unless he went underground he definitely couldn't have been lower i agree haha For what its worth i dont think any of the 3 challenges are reds. The lack of consistency is the frustration
-
Based on England not punishing a smiling tackle by Bristol City as well im guessing they've decided if its low its not a red. (Unless the crowd are on your back)
-
I thought so there, natural reaction when you see something flying at you out the corner of your eye is to defend yourself The Clarke foul however is a bit meaty
-
Thought he made the most of it tbh, wasn't like he broke free and was pulled back. Nice knock around the corner but the defender got across him. All based on one look in real time, so I could be wrong
-
Class knock by their keeper there tbf. Thankfully all their players ran into the same space
-
so far we've really imposed ourself on the game. Not given Ipswich much of a look in at all.
-
Been a good performance this, as everyone is saying we could do with that 2nd goal as insurance though
-
Comfortably looks like our best striker to me
