Just to complicate things. Some “options” have triggers. Obligations are essentially just transfers without having to pay up front, no way out. Theres examples of some “option” loan players making 19 appearances and never being seen again!

Could definitely be some creative accounting going on. Might be a really low threshold option like "Triggers after 10 games" just to ensure we get the fee in next years accounts?
