Come off it. As director of football, Rudkin is the most senior person on the footballing side of the club. The buck stops with him. Managers have come and gone but he has remained as the one constant throughout our decline. Please don't be fooled by the sleight of hand restructuring. Our new director of football reports directly to Rudkin. He is still overseeing the football operation. He is very much involved in recruitment along with Glover and the manager of the day. We have heard directly from players who could scarcely believe their luck in face to face contract negotiations with Rudkin. Crap recruitment and ridiculous contracts (aswell as allowing players to run them down) are the main causes of where we are and all roads lead back to Rudkin.

I have backed Stolarcyk many times until I was unable to do it any more. He was a highly regarded keeper and I thought he had potential to be a really good keeper. Maybe I was wrong or maybe his confidence is completely shot or he has become infected by the malaise that infected the whole team last year. Either way, I still think he is worth persevering with to try and reignite that potential. Especially if the alternative is Alex McCarthy.

Imagine a manager causing so much trauma and catastrophe at his former clubs that their fans follow him onto the fan's forum of his next club to warn them and unanimously deride him. We've had Rangers fans, MK dons and Saints fans! There's no doubt about it, Russell Martin is special. Just not in a good way.

It would make a difference because Martin plays to our weaknesses. Having Okoli, McCarthy and Souttar trying to tip tap it around their own penalty area, having Thomas as an inverted fb, not using wingers, playing it backwards instead of having runners break the lines are all acts of self-harm that make us less than the s of our parts.

I disagree with you here. I think the system is inherently flawed. Wide open in defence because passing around your own penalty area creates more risk than reward. Blunt in attack because his extreme version of possession football generally favours the safe (ie sideways or backward) options just to keep possession rather than unlock defences. In short, it takes the risks at the wrong end of the pitch and also plays safe at the wrong end of the pitch.

It's not just the fact that the players aren't good enough, his system is not good enough. It is blunt in attack, wide open in defence and deathly dull..
