Could people in this thread please try to understand that the only alternative to Maresca's style is not necessarily Tony Pullis' land of giants long ball game? I think in your haste to patronise, many of you are forgetting that there are many different ways to play football. Again, I am not advocating change I just wish that people would stop being lazy and condescending.

I'm not clamouring for anything, I am simply saying that this team playing this way might be too open in the PL next year. I have seen it many times before with promoted teams. Perhaps you're right and Enzo will adapt and perhaps I'm wrong and we will succeed where Burnley have failed. I tend to think that Enzo has a set of footballing prnciples that he will live or die by however. Anyway, I was simply wondering aloud about whether Maresca feels that this time can compete next year without significant reinforcements, I am not clamouring or even wishing for change.

I must admit, I have my doubts. We can afford to play like Man City in this division because we are the Man City of this division, just like Burnley were last year. I think that the way that Burnley have been carved apart this year is a glimpse into our own future. I think we will have to be a lot less open and a bit more ugly to survive.

Part of me wonders if Enzo is giving himself a potential escape route here as he recognises that it won't be so easy next year, especially if our finances are as chronic as they seem. His stock is currently sky high and unblemished. On the other hand, fans at the ground need to understand that they have a job to do. They are not just spectators. Ignoring the unpleasantness that features in so many of your posts. The ones that are decipherable anyway, I would say that Fatawu's sending off was entirely avoidable and cost us the Coventry game. I would also say that retreating into our shells after being on top against ipswich was again avoidable and invited the inevitabe. You don't have to agree. But then you don't have to be a dick about it either.

That is as maybe, but we have lost 5 points out of six in the last two games that was avoidable and self-inflicted.

The FA Cup win was huge to me. Massive. The realisation of a long held distant dream. Today,'s game however means nothing. We are not going to win it as a Championship club and we have bigger fish to fry. I just want us to get back to winning ways in the league.

I went for 35-44. I thought that the malaise from last season was deeply ingrained and would continue. That Maresca has dispelled it so quickly is his biggest achievement imo.
