No, the loss number can only go down really, once they put in the 'addbacks' for infrastructure and women's football etc

Bournemouth (H) Pre match thread (05.10.24, 3pm)

How about Palace? Isn't it something like 10 years in a row finishing on 40-49 points? -
We already did that vs Palace and Everton.
-
People also seem to think we conceded a ton of goals from playing it out from the back. Which ignores that 1) we probably conceded far less than people think and 2) playing it out from the back was a crucial part of our success

Arsenal (A) Match Thread - 15:00PM 28th Sept

Still no subs? -
Correct. But then the club also sacked Rodgers 2nd April and appointed Smith 10th April

I'm no fan of Cooper and I think he's making a lot of mistakes, but to be fair I think a lot of people forget/miss/ignore the fact that in the first few games of the season we only had Vardy available as a striker (Cannon out on loan, Daka injured, Edouard not signed/ineligible), so he 'had' to leave Mavididi on the bench as cover
-
In all likelihood it seems he'll get until the Ipswich game, but I do hope we use the time between now and then to have replacements lined up. There's no point in giving him until Ipswich (match 10) and then spending 2-3 games worth of time getting in the replacement.
-
But also for a team that was bottom for the majority of the season we were 1 of only 2 teams in the league that season to never be beaten by more than 2 goals, along with Arsenal, who finished 3rd
-
By which point we might well be winless in 10, having already played 5 six-pointers vs direct rivals, leaving the next person 28 games to win around 10 matches...

-
Has he even done that? We lost to Villa and Fulham easily enough. Spurs 1-1 felt more down to Vardy magic and good crowd. We chucked away 2 points vs Palace and didn't take a relegation 6 pointer vs Everton seriously. We're 2nd best in most important metrics in all 5 games so far.
-
Thing is, do we really expect Everton and Wolves to stay down there? That's the only thing keeping us out of the bottom 3 at the moment. Everton finished on 40 points (15th last season / 48 pts or 11th without the deductions). Wolves finished on 46 points (14th).

The EFL rules are better drafted than the PL ones the EFL can charge PL clubs with punishments, unlike the PL’s inability to charge EFL clubs we’ve successfully proven that we were an EFL club not a PL club. Therefore EFL can and probably will charge us. the only thing that’s uncertain is what thresholds will apply to us and when the punishment will apply (the EFL cannot apply a punishment whilst we’re in the PL)

This keeps coming up and I keep giving the same answer: How does that work in practice? The PL and PGMOL are separate entities. So there’s a deliberate, formalised conspiracy to give us bad decisions, that involves 10s and 10s of people and 0 whistleblowers or leaks? For clarity: I agree with your wider point that the subconscious bias that favours the 'big' clubs has been exacerbated/highlighted by VAR. -
Don't disagree, but given that JJ isn't playing as a RB that is instructed to go up and down all the time (in contrast to VK) then why can't Ricardo play there? It seems to me that (rightly or wrongly) Cooper likes us to shift to 3 CB when in possession, and JJ is preferred as a 3rd CB to Ricardo

Championship 2024/2025 Season Thread

Just caught up on the Championship - didn't realise Leeds were down in 8th. Are they having another "We'd be Top if it wasn't for August" season? -

Think most people agree that was fine. Tielemans got the ball. The 2nd one, the ref gave it, but Vardy was offside -

Think there's an optical illusion here though right? If you compared the positions/silhouettes of Mateta, Faes and Okoli, between the 2 pics, they're all in the same position. The line looks a lot closer to all 3 of them in the wider shot than in a closer shot. This new angle looks dodgy AF though! -

This is exactly my point. Most people here have been watching the sport for decades and yet still jump to uninformed opinions before a ball has been kicked...

Entire match thread was going mental that he was in the team when the lineups were announced...
