What if we lose this but then win the next 2 and finish on 97, more than the maximums of Leeds and Southampton, what then? If you want to live in the 'land of all big chances should be goals' it would have been 0-1 West Brom early in the first half; then 1-1 with the Ndidi goal; then 2-1 with the pen; double clearance incident 2-2; hitting the bar from the resulting corner (which couldn't happen anyway if the previous incident is a goal) 2-3; Mavidid cross and Vardy miss 3-3; Diangana chance 3-4; Vardy header 4-4; Wallace goal 4-5. So a pretty tight game. It's all about taking chances. Both sides missed a ton and we edged it. So what? Yeah. That would be probably be fine. Obviously we want a win, but a draw isn't disastrous. Surely Southampton are in the worst position? They can pretty much only make the playoffs if they get maximum points and the rest of us remain winless?

Those players are underutilized, sure. But the club clearly has a favoured type of manager and type of football. So why sign Souttar, Coady, Kristiansen when they don't fit into it? It's on Maresca a bit, but it's more on the club than anything else.

Leeds and Southampton both have the same potential max points, so wanting Southampton to 'need' a result in the final game and take points off Leeds depends entirely on how both teams do between now and then. They're both an equal threat.

To be fair, it's 9 points gained by us/lost by Leeds/Southampton If we can win any 2 of our remaining games, we're very likely up.

Under the current rules. I presume the PL and EFL will be working together to change their rules so that they can punish team in the other's jurisdiction on each other's behalf?

Two things can be true at the same time we've squandered a good position/lead It's not easy to get promoted from the Championship, especially this season - you've had 4 teams in title winning form all season...

I never understand this weird viewpoint that the Coach has responsibility for virtually every aspect of what happens on the pitch apart from finishing? If the team is systemically bad at finishing, surely that's as much Maresca's responsibility as it is for their (general) success at passing, movement and overall system?

It's like people saying the EFL wants to get us, so we won't get decisions. The officials aren't controlled by the PL or the EFL - the PGMOL is a separate legal entity. So whilst, yes obviously the PL / EFL have some influence - if the EFL wanted to dictate us not getting decisions, how would that work in practice...?

My point is the discussion point was 'Enzo's limitations' and so, yes we're top of the league and long may that continue, but it's not much of a retort to the idea that he has failings X,Y and Z is it? Obviously if we win the title/go up, then it'll be job done, but it's still possible to say he has A, B and C weaknesses. Both things can be true. Not really sure what point @Dahnsouff is making.
