The only thing about this that's out of the blue is it happening in the Jan window, rather than summer. Leicester has always relied on player trading to fund a majority of their signings, under this ownership. This is even more pertinent and necessary with the PL's Profit and Sustainability Rules. And even with the income from promotion, we don't have a Fofana, Barnes or Maddison to cash in on this summer. KDH is our most 'sellable' asset this summer, and crucially the entire fee would be in the profit column, as he's an academy product. Unless it gets silly - i.e £45m+ I don't see why we'd sell now when it could jeopardise our promotion, when we can probably sell in the summer for the £30-40m being quoted now

If clubs are genuinely interested in him this window why would they come in so late? Surely it makes it much harder for them to get him, given we’d have less time for replacements
-
I guess they don't count then. Jesus, we go 2 games without a win, in 2 of the most difficult fixtures of the entire season and people have such a crisis of confidence.
-
What isn't convincing? Your claim is 'We don't turn up in the big games" you've not really defined why that particularly matters, more than turning up in the other 38 matches And anyway we've literally got the 2nd highest points vs the Top 7, only 1 point behind Leeds.
-
It'd be nice to win those games for sure. But until you can demonstrate that 3 points vs Ipswich is significantly better than beating the likes of Rotherham, Birmingham, Preston etc when Leeds, Southampton and Ipswich drop stupid points to them I'm not sure what the problem is?
-
Right and so what? We've still got 2nd most points vs the Top 7...
-
Leicester will keep this form. They are incredibly impressive - they've won 21 out of 28 games! 4 more than anyone else. They've only dropped points in 7 games. I don't see them losing many.
-
Points vs the Top 7 Leeds 12 out of 24 Leicester 11 out of 24 Ipswich 11 out of 24 Southampton 10 out of 18 So we're not exactly outliers in this 'we dont turn up in big games' idea
-
Well...it's not the metric is it? Having the most points is.
-
What if we 'don't turn up in the big games' but are more consistent against the rest of the league than Southampton, Leeds and Ipswich and have the most points. What then?
-
For reference Southampton just went 20 games unbeaten and took 48 points. We took 45 points out of our last 20 games. Southampton need to take 9 points more than us over the next 18 games to overtake us Sure, it's possible, but it'd require Southampton keeping up this form for around 35 games and/or barely losing

I mean, given that we’re comfortably top I’m not sure what kind of counter argument that is? the claim was “we play well and then we stop playing well and drop points” but that’s only happened 4 times. And in each instance it was as much about missing chances whilst on top than it was about dropping points later in the game. and yes, we also missed chances last season. So what? Last season it made the difference between staying up or going down - so it was relevant. it’s not particularly relevant this season given that we’re top anyhow? (for what it’s worth, the main reason we went down last season was our terrible defence anyway)
-
Good job we're not desperate for more midfielders...
-
Literally only happened 4 times this season and I think in all those it'd be irrelevant if we'd take 1-2 more chances.

Some extra details/stats We've dropped points in 7 games this season. 5 of those are the result of late goals (76 mins onwards). We've conceded 9 late goals, which occurred in 7 matches. 5 of those games had dropped points: Middlesbrough A, Sheffield A, Ipswich A, Coventry A, Ipswich H Those 5 games all occurred in the previous 13 fixtures For a total of 12 points dropped to late goals, out of 18 total points dropped across the season Benchmarking across the Top 4: So joint highest for points dropped to late goals Highest for games with late dropped points It can be a bit misleading though to say 'Leicester have dropped points in 7 games and 5 of those are due to late goals', because that also means we've generally played well in large portions of most matches - having dropped points to non-late goals only 2 times all season. Ipswich have done it 9 times; Leeds and Southampton 8 each. If we're going to talk about Late Goals Conceded and Late Points Dropped then we also need to recognise Late Goals Scored and Late Points Gained: Most late goals scored Most points gained from late goals
-
I'm also not sure the 'we tried to defend a 1-0' is correct. I don't think it was a deliberate tactical shift. I think we just lost intensity in our press/attacking as our front 5 looked pretty leggy from about 65mins. Meanwhile Ipswich freshened themselves up with 2 subs at 61 mins and 2 more at 71 mins. We didn't make changes until 81 mins.

Agree that they're terrible. But disagree that they are or would stop 'another Leicester' - Leicester didn't win the league by spending big did we? We didn't even disrupt the top 6 for 18-24 months by spending big. 2016 was a fluke, based on a perfect storm of unearthed world class gems, hungry professionals with a point to prove and some young players 2019-2021 was about a similar model, with 'clever' signings letting us punch above our weight I don't think the new rules stop teams doing what we did (even though doing it is near to impossible/requires a perfect storm of circumstances) The current rules stop a Newcastle coming in and trying to be the next Man City.

Some online sources showing him as on £30,000 a week. Surely not!? Approximately £12m in earnings across his career. Admittedly, 247 apps for Huddersfield, 107 for QPR, but only 90 in the last 6 years. Being a 3rd/4th choice keeper must be one of the most bonkers careers out there
-
Especially with Ndidi injured. Hmm. Seems like we're still not clear whether Chelsea unilaterally recalled him or whether we sent him back or if it was more of a mutual thing. Either way it's not good for us, unless we bring someone in and even then we're at a net gain of zero players
-
Surely it's the opposite? He was recalled because he wasn't getting enough appearances, which is what Chelsea thought we had agreed to?
