Took the opportunity to take the whole family down to see Ramsgate v Carshalton today as they had free family entry for Thanet schools. Finished 3--2 to Carshalton despite Ramsgate having the better chances but still a good game and enjoyable day out.

Rennes, Lille and Monaco is a tough start but still surprising to not win any. Italian title might be interesting this season. Inter have been so consistent recently but Como have shaken things up and maybe Roma will be up there as well. Couple of interesting transfers with Goncalves going to Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy from Sporting Lisbon being a surprising one. Only just saw Vlahovic from Juventus to Besiktas on a free. They play Fenerbache later today.

I think what you're struggling to articulate very well is your own confirmation bias.

If you've got all things English on the brain you might wish to believe that but it's just panto level banter, too desperate and predictable to not get mostly laughed off.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was mentioned previously but apparently Daniel Armartey hasn't played competitively for over 2 years according to what I could find out. Without being privy to any physical issues it's possible he simply earned enough being overpaid by us to take early retirement, but I find it interesting how some players differ in that regard. A David Luiz probably doesn't need to to still be playing in the Cypriot league at nearly 40 but obviously still has the desire to play, while others are the complete opposite. I'd still take him over Okoli even after a 2 year break!

Watching the Everton game and KDH has been excellent, great strike for the goal.

We had 100x more excitement, success and memorable moments than them in the top flight just those few O'Neil years, nevermind all that came later. Novelty value to add the usual patronising tone because they've been away so long.

Ramsgate 1 Leatherhead 2 Really disappointing opening game for Ramsgate in the Isthmian Premier, deservedly beaten by newly promoted opposition. Finished midtable last season after Lee Martin (ex Ipswich/Millwall) came in before xmas and went on a great run after previously being bottom 6/7. The decision to abruptly get rid of him even before the seasons end was a shock and one that risks looking silly if they end up struggling this season.

I was pretty young at the time but weren't they about as bad in the 1990 final? Even luckier to reach the final then as well.

Good opportunity to add on some minutes here.
