Totally inevitable we'll lose. Anyone losing their opening 7 home games seems extraordinary anyway and while every fanbase in football thinks their club is a charity I do think we have to be disproportionately bad for this kind of thing. And Cifuentes gets the boot afterwards.

I don't know if he'd really be up to it anymore to be honest, particularly without Shakespeare (RIP) and Walsh. Tell you what though I'd quite like him within the club. Would be delighted if he got Rudkin's job. I think his strength is probably quite suited to it nowadays - had an immense judge of character which has been sorely lacking in recent years. I do wonder how many of our current squad he'd get on board with. We definitely need someone of his ilk.

This is worse than bad. Even clubs like Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday - poorer teams on paper, probably worse situations off the pitch (***for now***) but at least their players actually try. Ours are a complete joke, the divide is bigger here than anywhere.

I'd take him but got this gut instinct he'd flunk here as well for some reason, which is daft. Wellens stock has fallen a bit in the last few months but I do think he's quite a no-nonsense type of character and he'd not tolerate a lot of these players.

Congerton was a massive red flag. We were warned and still fell into it. Even despite the good years under Rodgers I think the mistakes were coming under him pretty early. The Perez signing I'm pretty reliably informed was done on a bit of a whim, "he'll do". We'd gotten massively complacent. I'd heard way too many little things even around the better Rodgers years that were concerning. We had a scout leave the club because he would only listen to Congerton. Remember said scout saying we were going to sign Tapsoba (won the title at Leverkusen since) and Trincao (admittedly wasn't great in England) in January 2020 but Rodgers said no and went for Ryan Bennett, presumably because he'd worked with him before. Total side note on this is the same scout said Fofana is excellent but a big risk due to his injury proneness. You kind of naturally doubt the validity of this but the more time has passed the more evident it became. The same scout also said he'd leave the club if he got to work under a particular manager and sure enough as soon as that manager got in a job, he was off. I thought a drop-off was pretty inevitable but it was during 2022 that it was becoming apparent it would be a total collapse rather than a regression. The scary thing is I think we're nowhere near the worst.

That was a little bit of a red flag to be honest.
