Best players get picked off by clubs that have the ability to spend as much as they want to, whilst smaller clubs that do have a modicum of success aren't seemingly allowed to have it long-term. And said smaller clubs can't spend like others do because they'll get into trouble by the authorities.
It's a broken industry. It's fine to have ambitious players and I don't think anyone begrudges them their moves, but this is why it's so difficult for smaller clubs to sustain a good business model. There's money in the bank, great, but what do most other clubs have to show for it?
